Founder, Edmund Pendleton’s theme is one that is as relevant today as it was after the Adams Administration: the government can be only as pure and respectful of liberty as the constituent parts - the politicians - are imbued with virtue, the constitution notwithstanding.….Continue

Mandeville, LA - Exclusive Video and Audio - Not since 1415 has a Pope stepped down from his position, well now in 2013, almost 600 years later, that has changed. Pope Benedict XVI has announced he will retire effective February 28 and a successor could be elected by Easter. Usually a Pope serves until his death, obviously this is how history has done this for the last 600 years, but Pope Benedict is citing health reasons for stepping aside and l….Continue

Mandeville, LA - Exclusive Video and Audio - In his speech to the Heritage Foundation yesterday Rand Paul successfully walked the line between big R Republicanism and non-interventionism while quoting James Madison in the process. Now we know that Madison isn't the best Founding Father to be quoting on foreign policy but he would ranks in the the 95th percentile of non-interventionists were he alive today. We know that Rand isn't Ron but now we have a clearer idea of what his ….Continue

Mandeville, LA - Exclusive Video and Audio - Patrick Henry said it best when he said, "I have but one lamp by which my feet are guided, and that is the lamp of experience." Well, that's true when you're reading and studying original source documents, not watching and listening to other peoples interpretations of history. As new evidence suggests, Shakespeare was basically slandering the good name of Richard III with what Henry VII told him to write. Similar things have happe….Continue

Mandeville, LA - Exclusive Video and Audio - The University of Texas and Texas A&M did a study on how history is being cataloged so that school age kids can access it. Well, of course this cataloging and digitizing requires human input, and who do you think they hired to do the inputting? If you said Libs or Progressives you would be correct. As a matter of fact if you were looking for Thomas Jefferson's "Notes on the State of Virginia" book where….Continue

Mandeville, LA - Exclusive Video and Audio - Rand Paul is giving an intriguing speech on Foreign Policy to the Heritage Foundation next week... and why is that intriguing you might ask? Becuase the Heritage Foundation is one of the biggest promoters of "American Exceptionalism" in the world. We believe this means that this is Rand saying that he is not his Fathers son when it comes to Foreign Policy and would like to put this in some historical context with the Monroe Doctrine….Continue

Mandeville, LA - Exclusive Video and Audio - Brad Birzer has an article at The Imaginative Conservative entitled "Reflections on A Republic Divided to the Point of Collapse". In the article, Brad makes the point that our nation has always been divided, much as it is now, and the only time that men from different parts of the country truly work together is when they must sacrifice themselves for the good of the nation, like in a time of war. We're not sure if Brad is trying to ….Continue

Mandeville, LA - Exclusive Video and Audio - Georgetown "Constitutional Law" Professor Michael Seidman believes that we should just give up on the Constitution because it was written over 200 years ago by a bunch of guys who were basically out of touch with how our country is run today. Well, what if we were to just give up on everything that was over 200 years old? There would certainly be no major religions left in the world and many of our own elite colleges (including you….Continue

Mandeville, LA - Exclusive Video and Audio - The "Progressive Professor" has an article about how Rand Paul is "reviving Nullification from the Pre Civil War Years", the Civil War was fought over precisely that issue, and that viewpoint lost the war. Well, sorry to burst your bubble Mr. Professor but the Civil War was NOT fought over Nullification, the southern states felt like they weren't getting the proper representation in the Federal Legislature and lose any form of sel….Continue

Mandeville, LA - Exclusive Video and Audio - Leo Linbeck III has an article at The Imaginitive Conservative comparing two 19th Century Frenchmen's vision of America, Rousseau and Tocqueville, to our current political situation. It seems that America has been divided in two for a very long time, Tories and Whigs, North and South, Republicans and Democrats... always two differing views on how the country should move forward. So the fact that we're divided right now is nothing n….Continue

Mandeville, LA - Exclusive Video and Audio - Things were a little different when Thomas Jefferson became president of the United States... there was no motorcade with limos, no 10-inch thick bulletproof glass, no Beyoncé singing the national anthem, not even any microphones. But what TJ's inauguration did have was the spirit of Independence and Liberty. Jefferson walked right up to the Capitol building dressed as "a plain citizen without any distinctive badge of office" and….Continue

Mandeville, LA - Exclusive Video and Audio - We know that Obama is a huge Spider-Man fan, but maybe he's taking the phrase "with great power, comes great responsibility" a little too far. With his gun control, executive order announcement yesterday, he took the most IRRESPONSIBLE way out of the gun control argument... the illegal way. In fact, there was a completely legal way for new gun control measures to go into effect, either by handing it o….Continue

Mandeville, LA - Exclusive Video and Audio - Ok, the Republic of San Marino WAS founded a long time ago (3 September 301 AD) but it's not in another galaxy... it occupies just over 24 sq miles on the east coast of Italy. Why is San Marino important you may ask? Well, they have the worlds oldest written constitution still in effect, and how did it get that way? They weren't invaded by a foreign country? No, because San Marino doesn't have an Army (other than a few people for f….Continue

Mandeville, LA - Exclusive Video and Audio - The Founders set up a way to raise revenue and, if need be, borrow money in case of war, so that we wouldn't be in constant debt. But because of the Progressive Era, spending and borrowing has gone out of control and we're $16 Trillion in the hole. The Founders set up the order in which revenue, borrowing, and taxes were collected for a reason, but over the last 100 or so years, our leaders have been unable to follow their simple p….Continue

Mandeville, LA - Exclusive Transcript - We were told on November 7th or 8th when these petitions first hit the WhiteHouse.gov website, that these were just temper tantrums from sore losers who would move on. The White House posted the little response that these people would move on, that the knuckle-dragging Neanderthals that had asked about secession would crawl back in their caves and we’d nevermore hear about this silliness because we all know that Lincoln settled this ….Continue

Mandeville, LA - Exclusive Video and Audio - On today's Founders Television show Mike discusses the differences between the phrases "Gun Control" and "Gun Safety". Was Secession A Constitutional Right? 1868 Book Concluded It Was. "It was in 1833, for the frst time in the history of the country, that it was solemnly asserted and argued, that the Constitution of the 'United States was not a compact between the States. This new doctrine simultaneously put forth, by Mr. Justice Story in his "Commentaries on the Constitution of the 'United States," and by Mr. Daniel Webster in "the greatest intellectual effort of his life," that is, in his great speech in the Senate of the I6th of February, 1833. In order to show that the Constitution is not a compact between the States, the position is assumed, that it is not a compact at all. If it be a compact, say they, then the States had a right to secede. But it is not a compact; and hence secession is treason and rebellion. The great fundamental questions, then, on which the whole controversy hinges are, first, Is the Constitution a compact? and, secondly, Is it a compact between the States?" - Albert Bledsoe, Was Secession A Constitutional Right (1868)
