Mike Church Show Exclusive Audio & Transcript – Let’s think about free markets being perfect.  They’re not perfect; they’re very imperfect. We convince ourselves, if we only had free markets and if we had this, that and the other, life would be perfect,  I think that’s one of the failings of the opposition party, trying to paint the alternative to what Obama has as a utopia.  There is no utopia unless it is that you are marching in grace with God.  That’s as close to utopia as man shall ever get, marching in grace with God.  We know this because look at all the misery, the abject misery that you see with people that are wealthy beyond imagination.  Check out today’s audio and transcript for more…

Mike:  Scott is in West Virginia.  Scott, you’re on The Mike Church Show.  How are you?

Caller Scott:  Wonderful, Mr. Church.  Nice to speak to you this morning.  How are you?

Mike:  Thank you very much, sir.  I am just peachy.

Caller Scott:  Especially in these troubled times, that’s great.

Mike:  Wait, wait, wait.  What troubled times?  There’s no trouble around here.  The American sheeple don’t give a rat’s furry behind about most of what’s going on here today.  Where do you see trouble?

Caller Scott:  Well, I live in West Virginia.  We are a coal mining state.  Coal drives everything in this state.

Mike:  You were a coal mining state until Obama came along.

Caller Scott:  Well, we are still limping along.  Obviously it’s not as much coal rolling down the rails and floating down the river as there has been, but there are some other contributing factors to that.  It’s not all about him, however, in our down state, it doesn’t help that we have elected officials of the people that are vehemently trying to destroy our economy.

Mike:  Why?  Why are they trying to destroy your economy?

Caller Scott:  It used to be global warming.  Now it’s climate change.  Just whatever the reason of the day is, whoever puts up the most money and puts up the biggest front to attack working taxpayers here in America.

Mike:  I think the last thing you said, that characterization, says a lot more about why they can get away with destroying your economy than anything else, when you characterize yourself as working taxpayers.  It used to be that you were citizens of a republic.  Now you’re nothing more than a social security number to be counted and beaned out by Mark Zandi or some other ass clown claiming to be an economist that can predict the future.  This is interesting.

AG and I were listening to our friend and our colleague Mike Slater’s promo during the last break.  I told AG, I love Slater and I love that promo but pass a little note on to him.  Let’s think about free markets being perfect.  They’re not perfect; they’re very imperfect.  It’s one of these little nuances.  We convince ourselves, if we only had free markets and if we had this, that and the other, life would be perfect  I think that’s one of the failings of the opposition party, trying to paint the alternative to what Obama is as a utopia.

There is no utopia unless it is that you are marching in grace with God.  That’s as close to utopia as man shall ever get, marching in grace with God.  We know this because look at all the misery, the abject misery that you see with people that are wealthy beyond imagination.  There are these shows on Bravo that from time to time Mrs. Church will watch for some form of entertainment.  There are these Housewives of Atlanta, Housewives of Beverly Hills or housewives of wherever.  Mr. Gruss, you probably don’t watch any of these shows, do you?

AG:  I don’t watch the housewives shows, no.

Mike:  You ought to just for comedic relief.  Just try it.  Anyway, these women, their husbands make them wealthy beyond any man’s dreams in the 18th or 19th Century.  It’s true, it doesn’t buy them happiness.  They’re miserable.  They’re absolutely miserable wenches.  As I said, I’m doing show prep in the other room, so I’m trying not to listen to this crap, but I’m catching bits and pieces of it, so much so that I’ll get up out of my chair and walk in and say, “Rewind that.  I have to hear what that idiot just said again.”  I watch this and of course they’re bitching and complaining about how rotten things are in a 6,000-square-foot home, driving Bentleys around.  They have rocks the size of oyster shells on their fingers.  They all have all the plastic surgery money can buy.  They have every accoutrement that our modern society can offer them, yet they cannot find happiness.  Why is that?

Caller Scott:  In my opinion, you said it when you were talking about walking step in step in the grace of the lord.  Very little of that goes on.  As you’re talking about, there is no utopia, that’s exactly right.  For those of us that are believers and understand what our heavenly father promised us, there’s no guarantee of anything on this earth.  There’s only a guarantee of the future.

Mike:  But we are presented with alternatives in our politics that lead us to believe that there is utopia if we just pull the lever the right way.  All will be right with the world.  You’ll be fat.  You’ll be happy.  Let your kids be fat if you want to.  You’ll have obese kids.  You’ll be happy.  You’ll have three cars.  You’ll have television.  The deficit will go away.  You’ll find a job.  The most amazing thing is people complain about not having jobs and the unemployment rate and all that.  Many people despise their jobs.  They hate them when they have them.  They can’t stand them, yet, [mocking] “I’m going to vote for that guy because he’s going to help me get a job.”  You hate your job.  What are you talking about?

Caller Scott:  They don’t want a job.

Mike:  We just don’t deal with reality.  The reality of it is that life is hard and you ought to enjoy how difficult it is.  Instead of complaining about the vicissitudes, which we all find ourselves guilty of, maybe we ought to be thankful that we actually have something that’s difficult to do to challenge us so it doesn’t work out right all the time.  It just bothers me that our political alternatives are always presented as, [mocking] “If you vote for Mitt or Ron or Rick, you’ll have what’s behind door number three!”  Then you open the door and there’s the miserable couple on Housewives of Atlanta.  It makes you think.

You people out there who just heard that, think about that for a minute.  Tweet about that.  Facebook about that.  I dare you.  You know why they won’t?  They won’t do it because to do that is to confront the actual demon.  We don’t want to confront demons in this country, in this civilization in 2012.  We’re perfectly happy in our fantasy world where the Avengers and the Green Hornet come to save us.  Truth, fact of the matter, that’s it, print it.  Scott, go ahead and finish what it was you were going to tell me before I so rudely interrupted you.

Caller Scott:  Absolutely.  It’s always a pleasure listening to you, Mike.  I was one of the guys who voted for a convict who is currently sitting in a prison in Texas.  Before the Obama administration wants to make this a racist issue, as he did in the last election cycle, by the fact that he didn’t even visit our state, by claiming there was no need because we were 90 percent white.  My vote that I cast yesterday morning for the convict actually had nothing to do with anything other than Obama.  At this juncture in our country, anything is a better choice than this man.

Mike:  I don’t agree that anything is a better choice, but I do agree that, as I said earlier, for the optics of it and for the attitude, for maybe the humility and the reality that someone like Governor Romney would bring to the office of the presidency, it’s worth swapping the horse.  I can’t endorse an awful lot of what Romney does or what he stands for, but I can say that even just for that, it’s worth swapping the horse.

Well Said Mike! Conservatism is really not perfect. People who put God first in their lives are the only ones who come even close to perfection. The Creator, God Almighty, is the only one who is perfect and people need the liberty to strive to obey the Creator. Only in that way can we bring about a better world.
