Mike:  “A Manifesto of Christian Resistance”:

[reading]

. . . in the face of the persecution of themselves and their fellows — when all peaceful forms of resistance, petition and reform are obstructed — the right to take up arms to protect and ensure their own liberty, so that they might live in harmony with Nature and the Author and Creator of Nature. For this right, is not only the right of the Christian, but is inherent in Nature itself, since it’s nothing more than right to self-defense: of Nature, on behalf of the Author of Nature.

Mike:  That is heavy stuff.  Now, it’s fortuitous, for me anyways – if you’re one of the 21 listening today, 22 now that Dr. Brannon is on the line, it may be fortuitous to you, too, depending on whose side you’re on.  I was reading, as I read Dr. Brannon’s essay last night, which will be published at MikeChurch.com – because five men in black robes tell you this is going to become law.  No, it’s not.  The appropriate, required response is: Uh, no, it’s not.  Remember that white martyrdom we talked about?  That’s what you would be doing when you say: Uh, no, it’s not.  Then if they come and they say: Yeah, well, we’ll send the National Guard in to enforce this.  We’ll take over your courts.  We’ll revoke your charter.  Uh, no, you won’t.  But you would have to have a citizenry or a large enough portion of the citizenry that was ready for the white martyrdom and was willing to commit.  Of course, since we value this life more than we value the eternal life, eyes fixed on eternity always, few people will heed that call, will suggest it, even if they hear it will embrace it.  I don’t hold out any hope that it’s actually going to happen.  It could, unlikely, but probably not.

We put a lot on the table here today.  How many people would take this – I’m going to read it again in case you missed it at the top of the hour, “A Manifesto of Christian Resistance”:

[reading]

Finally, I hold and protest against such a government, that all men, who seek to restore the Natural order, have, in the face of persecution of themselves and their fellows — when all peaceful forms of resistance, petition and reform are obstructed — the right to take up arms to protect and ensure their own liberty, so that they might live in harmony with Nature and the Author and Creator of Nature. For this right, is not only the right of the Christian, but is inherent in Nature itself, since it’s nothing more than right to self-defense: of Nature, on behalf of the Author of Nature.

Let all men, therefore, know and heed, this manifesto of Christian conscience and harked to the truths and rights which it declares, for the honor and glory of God and the defense of the United States of America. And let them no so much trouble themselves and tremble before the men who profess it, but fear and cower beneath the Majesty and Authority of God the Creator, the Judge of the living and the dead, Which it acknowledges.

Mike:  One of the things that you learn in philosophia perennis, if you stick with it and get all the way to ethics – I’m on ethics lesson nine now.  What happened to the fear and trembling mentioned in the Old and New Testament?  Why don’t men fear and tremble before the awesome, almighty, omnipotent power of Almighty God?  You think about that.  You’ve got a commandment that says “Thou shall not murder,” yet people murder wantonly, including the most innocent.  Why?  Because they don’t have that fear and trembling.
