One Year Ago we began our coverage of the Great Escapo. No that's not a typo. Elvira Arellano was supposed to show up for her SECOND deportation hearing but decided instead to flip all us gringos off and write her set of immigration laws.

Well, we may have now had enough senorita. Elvira told the local Hoy ( a local Chicago-Spanish language newspaper) that... “If [immigration authorities] want to arrest me over there, in front of Congress, in front of the White House or in front of the Senate, and deport me in front of all those people that make the changes in the law, it’s fine,” Arellano, 32, told the newspaper while inside the Aldaberto United Methodist Church on Division Street. “But I’m not going to stay quiet, nor wait for them to come to arrest me and deport me.

I have to fight and this is part of the fight.” Well, we just may take you up on that offer El. Today I began asking the members of the Red, Right & Dude Nation to take some action. Call the DHS and demand that they enforce the laws of the country and promptly get Elvira in front of an ICE Judge and on a windsurf board back to Mexico.

The ICE has been reluctant to go storm trooping in a church and forcibly remove Elvira. Oh you mean like forcibly removing the burning corpses of the Branch Davidians from inside what THEY considered to be their Church?

Now if Elvira was a polite, beleagured fugitive from a Communist regime and had pleaded with the American People to grant her sanctuary or asylum from Fidel or Hugo we would embrace her. Many would even offer her their homes. Elgvira has chosen the "this is my country to you law abiding gringos and you don't have the balls to stop me" route instead. Her welcome has been commensurate.

Enough is enough. I'm sure that with her espionage and stealth experience that Elvira can secure a good paying job with Mexican Intelligence agencies, we just have to help make it happen. Below are contact numbers for the Chicago area ICE office. Give them a ring and tell them you are doing your civic duty by reporting the whereabouts of a fugitive from the law.
