FISA Reform Shortfalls in Congress
The Democrat Congress who have had rousing success in calling over 600 hearings in oversight of various form of the Bush administration since January, has thus far been able to accomplish little on the legislative order. After causing the scene Thursday night that looked like the rumble between the Jets and the Sharks, they provided an equally disgusting encore of pushing through FISA reform that is so absolutely inadequate that it's been rejected by the Director of National Intelligence, Mike McConnell. Whenever the guy who's sole responsibility is to gather and monitor information to prevent future terrorist attacks, perhaps you should take advice about what would be necessary to properly execute that task.
Despite what would be considered obvious shortcomings to even the most casual observer, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi claims she's very satisfied with the accomplishments of Congress this year and casually shrugs off a low approval rating, claiming that the individual Democrats have double digit improvements in THEIR ratings. I guess the Republicans, who aren't in charge, are more responsible for the failure to sway the oft-referred American People.
