HOW DID THE KINGDUDE GET TO BECOME THE KEEPER OF ABU KNOWLEDGE?

I READ A LOT! And not just BUMPER STICKERS mind you.

Folks there is no substitute for actual acquired knowledge which you can only get through books and then back it up through applying the knowledge to the issues of the day.

Just by having a conversation with a friend or with me on the show about these things and these books ideas IS part of the higher learning. Now I'm sure there's plenty to learn on the pages of Field & Stream and American Sportsman but you can keep these books right next to them in the bathroom AND if you wanna impress guests, they look GREAT on a coffee table with your bottle of Aged Jim Beam! - Mike Church

WHAT I AM READING RIGHT NOW

In researching my movie about the writing of the Constitution I came across Mr. Brookheiser's book on Hamilton "Alexander Hamilton: American". Brookheiser puts a new face on Hamilton that departs from the Monarch loving, big government advocate he has been pegged for. All in all "Alexander Hamilton: American" is a really good walk through of the life Alexander Hamilton; a lead player in the founding of our Republic.

The Forgotten Man. This is a GREAT read and will set on it's Marx loving head the affair most people and of course the Left has with "The New Deal" and FDR's soft Socialism.

See if you notice the striking similarities between Hoover 1930 and Bush 2008. FDR as "forgotten man" candidate and Hillary Clinton's "Invisible Man".

F.A. Hayek's The Road to Serfdom "No one book will give you ALL the eduction needed to combat the lies, deceit and evil of American Socialism (also known as Liberalism) but THIS CLASSIC will get you started.

I don't need to introduce Atlas Shrugged or Ayn Rand other than to say that Mrs. Rand has gotten ill-deserved short shrift from Conservatives. Rand totally gets totalitarianism, socialism and the undermining of human liberty required for Big Gubbmint to prosper. Perhaps this is why the REPUBLICAN intelligentsia scoffs at her and dwells on her purported  religious transgressions instead.

Rand rejects Gubbmint as the answer to anything other than the entity that gets to break the bad news about overtly Moral Virtues trumping the Rule of Man and thus dispersing the crowd of tyrants dependent on that Rule and their Centralized Planning Schema.

 CONTINUING EDUCATION AT ABU

No book is a better account of the American Revolution's Roots than David McCullough's 1776. The REAL education that you seek REQUIRES that you read Professor Bloom's "Closing of the American Mind". This is a difficult read folks but it will completely change the way you view the discourse of our day and the education your kids COULD and SHOULD receive. WARNING: Reading this book will cause you to revere Classic literature, disdain "pop culture" and get really p/o'd over that $120k student loan your kid took out to study Social Services.

Mark Steyn has written about the end of the world NOT by global warming but via Islamic Takeover. This is MUST reading for Students at American Bigot University. Mark has appeared TWICE on the Show, you can hear his interviews here.

These are books I have finished reading and they should ALL be on your booksehlves (or in your bathroom)- Ann Coulter- Godless; David McCullough- John Adams; William Bennett - America our Last, Best Hope;

Books that I HIGHLY recommend for the intelligence asspanding Right Winger in You (1776 may well be the BEST history book you'll ever read). Washington's crossing is equally informative though not as emotionally stirring as 1776.

Michelle's Unhinged should be on every coffee table in America because chances are you know an Unhinged nut who needs an outing.

Here you will find the KingDude?s recommendations for DVD?s, Books, CD?s and magazines.

The 'Top 69 Movies for Dude?s who like movies' - From the Mike Church Show. The KingDude and listeners compile the annual list of 69 movies every Dude and uberbabe should have in their collection.

The Conservative Record Club- Music you should never pay for because it supports Anti-American Activity

I'm currently reading "The Closing of the American Mind"; what a great book. My younger lib sister agrees with a number of the parts I quote from the book.

The BEST book to understand Socialists, why they do what they do, why it will never work and why Liberty and Freedom will always have a tough path to travel is F.A. Hayek's "Road to Serfdom".

No other work provides the true intellectual ammo you need to shoot down Lefty insanity.

I haven't read Jonah's book, perhaps I should request a preview copy?

A great companion to the Gutzman book is Tom Woods' P.I.G. to American History.

I recently got into politics and am still a novice. But even in my green state I cannot believe that anyone intheir right mind would think that Liberalism is something to save the people of the USA. Our nation is founded on FReEDOM not Gov. Regulations. The last thing we need is more control. Thanks for educating America Mike. Hopefully the message gets out.

I would have to agree that 1776 is the best book on the founding of our great country that I have ever read. If you havent read it go get it!!

Funny thing some lib and I were getting into it over God and Darwin I ended the argument when he said "Show me God" to which I responded he's right out there hanging out with the "Missing Link" when you find him let me know. Silly Lib had nothing to say after that
