The Band's Story

Inside the Mind of Mad Men er...Mad Dudes

The way the song-writing sessions go is my favorite thing about visiting and working with the Band. “Alan, can you play da da da dah---— du do dad do da duh?”, “you mean like this [music from acoustic guitar]?”, “no no more like da da da dah---— du do dad do da DEE”, “oh yeah! like this? (hey Jimm pass me my pipe)[guitar music again]”, “perfect, I didn’t know you guys smoked pipes!?”.

We have collaborated on over 35 songs now, most of it done swapping music and vocal tracks over the internet. Things got a little rocky with the band when they had the audacity to ask to be paid for their work. “We’re never gonna make it with you greedy bastards bilking me for $200  a year Dudes” I told them but they went on strike and threatened to leave and get gigs backing up Marie Osmond so I caved and paid the ransom. The rest as they say is history.

Alan Grossman and I at Hit music in the summer of 2004. The master vocal track for "Kobe's Theme (All my Shovin'"" was cut at this session.

Jimm Mosher is the engineer and drummer/bassist/keyboardist and mixes most of the songs at Hit Music. He also sings on nearly every song and takes leads on classics like “Libs on the Run”. Alan Grossman plays guitars and co-produces and also provides vocals and annoying Instant Messages.

In late 2005 we added the female vocal talents of Ashley Farmer, when she’s not chasing her brood of rugrats around the double wide Ashley delivers amazing backing vocals and has also taken lead on hits like “Work Like a Mexican.”

This is a never before published image of the MCS Bands first record "Christmas Beer". This song was actually recorded originally without Jimm and Alan at the WBT 1110 Studios and was later re-recorded at Hit Music and never released.

Here’s the way most of my songs evolve. I will be driving around or plastering “Peace Signs are for Pussies” stickers on PETA buildings and I’ll say “hey!... I need to make a Kim Jong Il song!” or whatever the days most unpopular liberal, liberal scion or world class evil dude may be.

I’ll give you an example: one night Talcum X and I were watching or should I say suffering through CNN (the Caliphate News Network) and they ran some piece about an Elvis impersonator who discovered he was a distant cousin to Osama bi Laden and wanted to vote an all Democrat ticket that Fall (shocker). Well Talcum started humming “JailHouse Rock” to the tune of “well bin laden’s in the ole cell block...” and I finished the line with “he’s swinging to the Gitmo Rock”.

Within an hour I had written all the lyrics and downloaded a karaoke track from iTunes and cut a demo.
