The Band's Story

The next morning I uploaded my work to Hit Music, got some direction on the vocals and then re-cut the track another 10 or twelve times. This produced what I call a DEMO (insert quotation fingers here). I use DEMO to cover tracks I’m not sure will make full blown records and tracks that we are are still working on (ex: Manuel went down to GA was a DEMO for nearly 6 months before i had a version I was happy with releasing!).

This is the photo taken for the Back Cover of 1999's Debut CD "Piss Poor DJ". At the end of the alley is Jennifer Anderson who provided vocals on "The Vasectomy Song" which was mixed and produced by Mike Church and features a rare electric guitar performance by the KingDude too.

A track gets labeled a DEMO for a variety of reasons but the most common one is that I’m trying to sing something an actual singer sang and the dogs down the street are baying like it’s a full moon. Most of the time we get around my modest vocal range by making you believe I sang the notes. Donning an impersonation voice (Ted KEnnedy, John Kerry) or ethnic accent are my best tricks.

Tracks may also stay in demo stage simply because I don’t think there are enough punch lines in them. The ACLU song went through at least a dozen re-writes. At this writing I’m STILL re-recording the Gitmo Rock song and our biggest hit ever “Manuel Went Down to Georgia” had at least 6 totally different sets of lyrics written. The original version contained the lyric “if you win you’ll have to take care of your own yard, but if you lose he gets health care from Wal-Mart” or something like that. That’s a far cry from the final track’s “and if you win we’ll deport his ass back to Mexico, but if you lose we’ll all speak espanol”.

There’s no telling what the Band may come up with next, someday we would love to gety together and do a LIVE concert, maybe evan a small tour. One thing’s for sure, it’s still the most fun anyone is having making records today and must be driving liberals absolutely mad. That makes my day.
