RNC Recap: Being Otis The Drunk Is Sinful

Mandeville, LA – During the Thursday night telecast of the RNC, I and co-host David Simpson, in the very late stages of the event’s coverage, partook of a few drams of Talisker 10 year old Scotch whisky. This was done at the end of a very long, 70+ hour broadcasting week and near the end of the telecast. Some listeners have expressed concern that this behavior was sinful and that our public consumption was as well. I do not agree that the winding-down affect of the consumption impaired either of our conduct or commentary, or that it was sinful, however, I willfully acknowledge that the conduct could, if habitual and in excess, cause scandal to our efforts and be a sinful act. I am but a man and a rotten sinner at that and I do not condone or endorse Drunkeness or Scandal. If either have resulted from Thursday evening’s LIVE coverage, I apologize, accept the public humiliation that brings and pledge to amend my ways and moderate any future occasions of these sins, as best as the Grace of God will allow me.
