Producer_T_shirt_displayMandeville, LA – Mike Church’s daily Pile of Prep, chock full of the latest answers to the ideological purification effort of “conservatives” Mike’s historical viewpoint to help make sense of it all plus other [r]epublican stories used to perform the Mike Church Show on Sirius/XM Patriot channel 125. “Real republican principles had been betrayed, and present Republican politicians only paid lip service to Revolutionary republicanism. Taylor told Monroe that such men and principles ought to be “opposed in all [their] pernicious consequences.” He thought that all true republicans were minority men, those who remained steadfast to principles while opposing the fallen away Republican majority.  He declared, “I am destined to live and die a republican minority man… Majority republicanism is inevitably, widely (but not thoroughly) corrupted with ministerial republicanism, and it is also tinctured with the folly of certain sympathies towards strong parties, popularity, and noise.” – Adam Tate on John Taylor in his Conservatism & Southern Intellectuals book

“et tu Andy, et tu!?” My buddy Andy McCarthy throws all-in with Ted Cruz vs Jeb Bush (I think Bush is off his rocker too) as one of the good guys in the current two sided argument. There is a a problem with this assertion the least point being that Republicans, and Cruz, have no probably confiscating our wages to pay for someone else’s medical services, they call this “Medicare” and “Medicaid”. If Sen. Cruz wanted to stake out a uniquely “conservative position” he would filibuster an Omnibus that has Medicaid $$ and rules in it for TX, alas….

Is Ted Cruz “Catastrophizing” and actually pleading for The End to come so he can say he “was right all along”? If so, what kind of “leader” is that? Oh, wait, I know, “…he’th justh the kinda man we need in there Mitter Church, and you wait thee cause Ted Cruth ith gonna do it!”

For those genuinely interested in discovering conservatism, Russell Kirk explained what it is NOT in his Ten Conservative Principles speech.

“Being neither a religion nor an ideology, the body of opinion termed conservatism possesses no Holy Writ and no Das Kapital to provide dogmata. So far as it is possible to determine what conservatives believe, the first principles of the conservative persuasion are derived from what leading conservative writers and public men have professed during the past two centuries. – Russell Kirk

Larison: Re-building conservatism will require rejecting the bigger is better nationalism of today for a smaller is beautiful and local/regional is preferred. Gee, WHERE have I heard that before

Nomocracy in Politics: A Government which Necessarily Introduces All Evils, and from the Same Necessity Neither Must nor can Redress Any. In other words, we can make you all kind of promises, execute 1/4 of them and bill you (and your kids & grandkids) for all of them with interest

Wow, look at that employment rate…well it… ummm, welllll, I meaan, hey, is that an ObamaCare website over there!? With the jobs added stats now official it can be officially stated that we are in a recession of lasting proportions

From Mike’s “I hate being right all the time” department comes… Rubio proposes bill that makes sense BUT adds to the growing body of wonk-speak that says “ObamaCare is a terrible law and Republicans have great ideas on how to fix it”

The NSA does NOT make a “good case” for its blanket collection of data in the name of “protecting the American people” and its not just “libertarians” who are onto their deceit now

TIC: Here’s a nice counter attack to the recent spate of conservative hand-wringing over the GOP’s botched attempt to defund ObamaCare or whatever it was that Boehner’s House was trying to accomplish, they COULD have made a real difference.

“Rational analysis would show us that opposition to the ever-expanding therapeutic state stands, at best, at about one third of the electorate, with one third committed to the program, and one third lukewarm but willing to go along with the drumbeat emanating from the mass media.” – Bruce Frohnen at The Imaginative Conservative
