Mandeville, LA – Mike Church‘s daily Pile of Prep, Welcome to mikechurch.com’s Pile of Prep, all the materials used to prepare the Mike Church show, 2015 Edition. The Presbyterian Church U.S.A. has declared that the wedding At Canna, St John The Baptist, St Thomas More and St john Fisher were all using phony reasoning, that marriage is just between “two people” not between “one man-one woman”…silly Saints.; plus other [r]epublican stories used to perform the Mike Church Show on Sirius/XM Patriot channel 125.“A public that once snapped up pamphlets by Thomas Paine or stood for hours listening to Abraham Lincoln debate Stephen Douglas hardly exists; its span of attention shrinks as its fondness for television increases.” – Russell Jacoby, The Last Intellectual

If you can’t beat them, outbreed them: There may be another way to vanquish the atheist/agnostic/heretic hordes that populate the western world, dilute an already anemic obedience to the Magisterium of The Church and continue insisting you can have 31,00 “denominations” because “religion” is a matter of “opinion” anyway (it most certainly is not). Commit to bringing bigger Christian families up bigger as in larger in size. In a few generations the 2.1 kid per family Novus Ordo Catholic/Protestant/Atheist will be outnumbered in “their” own institutions.

I have commented many times on the life and times of John Dickinson. He the only voice against Independence on 1 July, 1776 but the same who left his seat in Congress the next day so his state, PA, led by Ben Franklin and James Wilson, could vote for the Lee Resolution. What is rarely explored is WHY Dickinson opposed independence. This is because it would reveal an inconvenient truth: Dickinson believed the Crown had the legitimate authority to tax the American colonies. They might disagree over the rate but the authority was legitimate. Dickinson, alas, was correct and he is ignored at our peril. Brad Birzer explores Dickinson’s “Letters From A Pennsylvania Farmer” and Dickinson’s thought on revolution.

And then there were…? The Presbyterian Church (U.S.A. branch) has concluded that St Thomas More, St John Fisher, and St John The Baptist were heretics with a side order of bigot while concluding that homosexual marriage is perfectly in keeping with the teaching of Christ. It should occur to the thinking Christian the contradiction that this Protestant sect has become because other Presbyterians cling to the former teaching that marriage is between a man and a woman, not the new and improved “between two persons”. Is the Holy Ghost a schizophrenic who cannot determine which version (there is but One) of Our Lords teachings he is to inspire the Christian “faithful” to live by? *rhetorical*

“We must protect our Constitutional rights” is the refrain heard from both libs and “conservatives” and therein lies the core problem of the American “experiment”: it is based on an error of the most egregious kind (actually 4 of them) but the fundamental problem is the misconstruction of the term “rights”. Please consider “It is shocking to many that the first notion of individual rights in the West is predicated upon each person’s ability to murder one another. For Hobbes, nature is chaotic and warlike, thus, each man has the unmitigated right of self-preservation – a right that went as far as to go to “everything, even to one another’s body.” I elaborate on this point in a new article: War, War, War, Really is Leviathan’s Fault after All

There is a term in the Catholic Magisterium and the writings and lives of all the Saints: mortification. Mortification is the practice of chastening your temporal desires by intentionally introducing suffering into your life e.g. foregoing salt & spice on bland foods, turning hot water off the last minute of a shower. 3 Generations ago, Americans were aware of mortification and practiced it to some degree though they may not have used the term. “Difficulty” is the term used in this essay to explain the old practice and plead for its return.

Patrick J Buchanan: The GOP is returning to the ill-informed bellicosity of the Bush years and will do so at their and our own peril

A pair of Italian fashion designers who are well known homosexuals come out of the closet…. as opposed to ANY acceptance of homosexual marriage and homosexual adoption saying the practice is not in keeping with their “Catholic Faith”. I won’t scandalize the pair but I will gently correct their retraction that reads “I’m Sicilian and I grew up in a traditional family, made up of a mother, a father, and children…I am very well aware of the fact that there are other types of families and are as legitimate as the one I’ve known…I was talking about my personal view, without judging other people’s choices and decisions.” Let’s think about that for  a moment. Any marriage/family outside of the arrangement that God has made for us, where an act of Contrition was employed for forgiveness followed by a solemn vow and resolve to forego that behavior cannot be “legitimate” and is as heretical as the first instance of promoting Heresy.

Here’s a well-done roundup of various hysterical reactions to the gay Italians statement that they would never seek to contravene their religion for the sake of temporal satisfaction (a statement they basically retracted under pressure from pagans)

Elton John meanwhile urges a “boycott” against the Homo-Heretics Dolce-Gabanna because of their “archaic” thinking. It won’t come as a surprise to readers who actually know the Church’s Magisterium on adoption and IVF that She proscribed them specifically for the reasons “Sir Elton” says they are “miraculous”, e.g. providing those who will not make children as Almighty God has commanded them but will instead “make them “artificially”. If you don’t see the moral and philosophic problem with that endeavor, please check some Brother Francis out of my suggested readings or go here:

This is a largely correct critique (book review) of the dangers and inherent problems that came with placing God and His Law on a lower footing than the law of “We The People”. How the current and incessant dismissal of Higher Law by the Courts amounts to a form of Christianity that can survive though is never asked. The fact is, the civil authority AND the Ecclesiastical authority can co-exist beneficially for Man but only when the Ecclesiastical is superior to the civil because it INFORMS the civil, constraining it in a super-natural fashion Man is incapable of

DeceptiCONNED: Jeb Bush is EXPECTED to raise $100 million this year bringing my prediction of his ultimate rise to nominee status that much closer. It is all about the money folks…

DeceptiCONNED II: NOT a shockuh, Now Senator Tom Cotton wants to backup his ill-conceived letter to unnamed Iranians with an increase in “Defense spending”. Yes, the U.S. should definitely insure on the road to bankruptcy that we can blow anything that moves in any hemisphere into existential bankruptcy with us.

Did James Madison really channel the work of Montesquieu (that a [r]epublic could not be so large as ours was going to be and remain [r]epublican) while writing his version of the Constitution and the thought behind it? We may need to take another look at that before concluding – incorrectly – that he did

Ron Paul: What exactly is the problem with the Iranians helping the Syrians & Iraqis to fight ISIS their common enemy?

CRISIS: Corporations and “corporate America” are the enemy of the faithful and those promoting and living the Magisterium of The Faith

DeceptiCONNED: The GOP “Yes men” promotes Senators with 60 days experience as “tough” and terrifying to Democrats. I contend these men are actually terrifying to Logic and Reason

Remember Kara Tippetts: She is the woman stricken with cancer who pleaded with Brittany Maynard to NOT kill her self using Doctor assisted suicide. Kara is now in the final stage of her cancer and is still accepting God’s will and plan for her tremendous suffering and death should it occur from the cancer

An Essay on the Soviet-like response to the SAE fraternity controversy at OU shines the light on the “millennials” inability to treat verbal “offenses” as what they are: rude, inappropriate, lewd, vulgar, offensive speech. Note the absence of criminal commission…oh wait, these offenses to manners and civility ARE criminal and that’s the point, to what end?

The prospect of Christian Conservatives, not having a welcome mat in either party as expressed yesterday by Rod Dreher and yours truly meets opposition in the form of perfunctory, American, boilerplate political advocacy. Noah Millman argues that conservatives MUST choose a party or negotiate a deal with one of them to “represent” their views. But this misses the point altogether, the True Social, read Christian, conservative, doesn’t HAVE any more room to negotiate and remain a social-Christian conservative. This is the point I have been making over and over: Political parties win elections, they do NOT change paradigms, they react to them in fact they shape them to their secular benefit.

Kevin Gutzman‘s review of Frank Buckley’s “The Once and Future King: The Rise of Crown Government in America,” makes me want to go out and buy the book (I did) AND provides further, damning proof that the USA is anything BUT a war-making, quasi-dictatorship bully. Please note Kevin’s historical observation that the Virginia elite of 1776-88 were NOT monarchichal but were mostly [r]epublican. I have special affection for his lament at the futility of the mantra that all “…we need to do is get back to the Constitution”, a destination made nearly impossible by the mis-education of generations over the ballyhooed and fabled document.

I have been warning you that the Republican Party cannot and will not be the entity that helps “take back America” if the taking back includes a revival of the Christian moral teaching of 1900 years. We now have the proof that this is becoming reality and that Christian “conservatives” better prepare themselves for the martyrdom that is to come as a result of the Error of the secular conversion of moral dogma into moral “choice”. “Opinion” never had any say so in this teaching and Truth says and always will say that it still doesn’t yet that is what is driving this greatest of all Heresies. If you think this issue can be solved by “the states” having leeway to check homosexual marriages at the courthouse the history of this Error says you’re wrong. Pray that it will not cost you your head.

Here is a historical breakdown of the amount of work done by the U.S. Senate on foreign policy (treaties) and the work don by the Executive in cahoots with the Senate (treaties) and on its own with Congress’s tacit endorsement (Executive statements). “During the first half-century of its independence, the United States was party to sixty treaties but to only twenty-seven published executive agreements. By the beginning of World War II, there had been concluded approximately 800 treaties and 1,200 executive agreements. In the period 1940-1989, the Nation entered into 759 treaties and into 13,016 published executive agreements. Cumulatively, in 1989, the United states was a party to 890 treaties and 5,117 executive agreements.”

Prep Better! Read the 1896 act Resolution of the Senate & House regarding the importation of “Alien Friends” for the Tennessee Worlds Fair of 1896!

Patrick J Buchanan: The Iranians do not need a bomb because, thanks to U.S., the Arab world is moving their way in emerging majorities. This means that the lusted for war against the Iranians the DeceptiCON madmen are scheming will likely include more than just Iran as an “enemy”. Nice going, GOP, maybe if you guys keep working at it, you can align the entire hemisphere against us!?

ESSAY: The “Same Sex Marriage Crisis” is not entirely the fault of homosexual activists has some teeth to it including admonitions against further silence on “hook up culture” and the “emasculation of men”.

San Francisco Catholics (an oxymoron) express outrage when they discover the Catholic Schools they send their children to are actually Catholic and actually believe that the Church is supposed to teach IT’S Magisterium! This is followed by the City of San Francisco expressing its outrage in a resolution condemning the Arch Bishop’s “bigotry”. I wonder if anyone will bring up the stories of St John Fisher and St. Thomas More who gave their lives for the same Magisterium when Henry VIII told them to comply with him or die

*SATIRE* What is being done to stamp out the inequality gap in snow shoveling? Some reports put the female disadvantage at 93-7%, this is an outrage that must be addressed by Mrs. Clinton, Chelsea Clinton, and the rest of Gal Queda before young girls see their lives inexorably damaged by this discrimination

The permanent warfare state is the subject of a new book that shows just how profitable war has become for the MIC that has now expanded to include a mercenary class

The history of Chinese dynasties dates back 2600 years BEFORE Christ

Can the State Dept. deny a Visa to an American citizen’s foreign husband if someone in Leviathan thinks he is a “terrorist”? That’s the question a SCOTUS case must answer. My question is what does the Constitution say about this? It seems to me this is another example of the Constitution being incapable of regulating the difference between alien friends and enemies.

Facebook’s Mark Zuckerburg wants you to read some books with him, books you can “learn” from but there’s one huge problem. He wants you to learn all about NEW cultures NEW beliefs and NEW technologies when modern man hasn’t even bothered to “learn” the OLD beliefs, the OLD cultures and can barely function alongside CURRENT technologies without becoming the biggest promoters of Sloth since Dante. Wellllll Mr. “conservative” what’s YOUR solution? How about we start with Chesterton’s Orthodoxy and work our way backwards to Augustine’s Confessions, passing through Twain, Dickens, Shakespeare and Aquinas?

HEROIC: Judge Roy Moore of the Al Supreme Court rightly says that TWO SCOTUS justices must recuse themselves from the “gay marriage” case they are to hear because they have performed “marriage” ceremonies and are therefore biased

DeceptiCONNED: Israel Firsters (our 51st AND most important AND beloved state… they gave us the Constitution you know *sarcasm* ) bombard Rand Paul with “he’s faking it” because Paul wasn’t “clapping hard enough” during and after Bibi’s best Lincoln impersonation. The “it” being his undying, unwavering, jingoistic idolatry for Israel and all it does for our asparagus growers and honey farmers and…uh, you know, “freedoms”, and …blah blah blah. What is really going on here is the Israel Firster’s need to get rid of Paul before the Presidential debates start so the GOP war machine can put forward a unified – for WWIII with CIC Netanyahu – presence.  Michael Brendan Dougherty explains

Meanwhile, the Senate is refusing to perform its constitutional function of Advice and Consent WITH the President on treaties, in this case the talks with Iran over its nuclear program.

Today’s Guest Srdja Trifkovic demolishes Bibi Netanyahu’s “end of the world if Iran gets THE bomb”, latest Cassandra fit with history, common sense and cosmopolitanism.

The history of the “Fairness Doctrine” shows that even IF the FCC is successful in ignoring the courts and defying Congress there will always be room for the hope of  a future appeal succeeding

The little “lending libraries” I talked about seeing in Scotland where residents of a community place books in a small enclosure or old phone booth and then borrow them by leaving a book of their own are now under assault by local governments everywhere who don’t want their monopoly on public libraries threatened

Read my essay on James Madison’s speech to Congress opposing the 1st National Bank of the U.S.,

PRAY: Soooo, people bailed on Christ to avoid being affiliated with the Republican Party? The libs that fantasize over this being true cannot possibly stand in front of a life-sized, sculpture of Our Lord, crucified, IN a Catholic Cathedral and really believe that is true and if it IS then not lament it being true

Jeb Bush shows that he does not understand what it means to be a member of a community by calling for more foreigners to invade current communities and in exchange for a job… “You come, you work hard, you embrace these values, and you’re as American as anyone who came on the Mayflower”. First off, those on the Mayflower weren’t Americans they were British

If you are wondering whether there is a morally valid, Pro-Life reason to oppose vaccinations in some cases there most certainly is. As then Holy Father Benedict XVI instructed a woman back in 2005 on the evil that surrounds the MMR vaccine and what to do about it.

Followup to yesterday’s post of James Madison’s veto of a “public works” bill in 1817. President Monroe vetoed nearly identical legislation 6 years later and explained his reasons similarly
