Mandeville, LA – Exclusive Transcript – I brought up at the end of last hour what should be the final nail in the death of our formerly great union, should be if we actually had people of moral conscience, and enough people willing to put their moral conscience on the line, draw a line in the sand and say “Here and no further.”  Here’s the headline: “Obama administration: Lawmakers, staff can get abortion coverage.”  Check out today’s transcript for the rest…

Mike:  I brought up at the end of last hour what should be the final nail in the death of our formerly great union, should be if we actually had people of moral conscience, and enough people willing to put their moral conscience on the line, draw a line in the sand and say “Here and no further.”  Here’s the headline: “Obama administration: Lawmakers, staff can get abortion coverage.”  You and I pursuing our productive endeavors today will be taxed and will have wages confiscated from us so that irresponsible, morally corrupt and decrepit individuals can trudge off into these execution centers called abortion clinics and terminate life and my and your expense, meaning we then are materially participating in the process.  Is that worthy of Judeo-Christian men and women of good conscience?  Is that conduct worthy of a government that supposedly personifies and defends freedom and liberty and all the other star-spangled things it supposedly defends?  Is it worthy of that?

Patrick_Henry_American_Statesman_paperback_cover_DETAILWhy aren’t we calling this sickness what it is?  We’re sick.  This is a sickness.  It is a conceit and a moral sickness, an anti-cult as I call it, that we have become possessed with.  Instead, let’s sit here and argue about dollars and cents.  We’ll argue about what level we’re going to fund this or that at.  I’d say the level you’re going to fund the following activity at is zero.  Anyone that says or tries to compel you to fund it is trying to compel you to participate in an act that is going to land you in the fiery pit of hell on the other side of this life.  Should you give your approbation to such an act?  I think not.  Here’s the story from the Washington Times:

[reading]

The Office of Personnel Management ruled Monday that members of Congress and their staffs will be able to buy health care plans that pay for abortions, even though the premiums are funded largely by taxpayer money — a move that conservatives say breaks federal law on abortion funding.

Under the terms of Obamacare, lawmakers and their aides are required to ditch their government-sponsored plans and buy insurance on state-based health care exchanges [Mike: Of course they’re not going to because they’ve just granted themselves an exemption.] though unlike most people on the exchanges, the staffers and members will have most of the costs of their premiums paid by their employer — in this case, taxpayers.

Federal law generally prevents taxpayer money from being used to pay for abortions, but OPM said the health care plans offered through the exchange were private. The agency also said it will make sure the money is segregated [Mike: You’re not going to be able to segregate the money because the money is fungible.] so that the portion that pays for abortions comes out of the employees’ own contributions, which amounts to about a quarter of the premiums.

america-secede-or-die-t-shirt“While plans with such coverage may be offered on an Exchange, OPM can and will take appropriate administrative steps to ensure that the cost of any such coverage purchased by a member of Congress or a congressional staffer from a designated [exchange] is accounted for and paid by the individual rather than from the government contribution, [Mike: Really, we’re supposed to believe that?] consistent with the general prohibition on federal funds being used for this purpose,” OPM said in its ruling.

Rep. Christopher H. Smith, New Jersey Republican, said OPM is violating a law he wrote in 1983 that prohibits OPM from paying any expenses to administer plans that cover abortion, except in cases of rape or incest or when the mother’s life is in danger.

“You can’t break the law, Mr. President, and just issue a final rule as if somehow you’re comporting with the law,” Mr. Smith told The Washington Times. “We don’t want to subsidize abortion on demand, and the public is absolutely with us.”

Democrats applauded the ruling, saying it ensures equal access to abortions.

Mike:  So the dumbocrat party is admitting that you and I are to be taxed and are then to materially participate — this is how you desensitize a population.  We’re going to be taxed and compelled to materially participate in this.  If we had a government that was restrained by an actual constitution written in 1787 and ratified in 1788, then this could not happen and it would not happen.  We know this, again thanks to the beautiful, brilliant veto message of President Franklin Pierce when the subject of the Congress and the federal government first covering healthcare came up in 1854, that’s right, in 1854.  Pierce vetoed it saying: No, there’s no authority in the Constitution and you shouldn’t want that authority to be in here, because if you cover one thing, you have to cover everything.

Well, they do cover everything today.  Now we have added into the everything clause the ghastly, immoral, unacceptable process of ending, through unthinkable and unthinkable torturous and tormenting methods the lives of soon-to-be-born American citizens.  If that’s not a bridge too far, then tell me, citizen, what is?  What is it that finally then severs any devotion that you have or any sense of shared responsibility that we must all remain in this together?  I seems to me that the wishes of too many, tens upon tens of millions of people, politically speaking, are being abrogated.  It is impossible for many of them to achieve or enjoy any sort of legislative victory when it comes to restoring sacred civil liberties and restoring sacred protections of life that a free people and the government that that free people lives under are supposed to guarantee.

republican-shirt-ifyouhavetoask1So what is to be done?  What is to be done?  If we were to go back into 1830s, ‘40s and ‘50s, and read the anti-slavery journal, we would find lots of inspiration and guidance on what is to be done.  The abolitionists told us what must be done.  We must sever all political ties to those that insist that our fate and the fruits of our labor are all tied together and can be used to continue or perpetuate the immoral activity.  What was the abolitionists’ answer to that?  No, we’ll go civil disobedient on you.  For the radical abolitionist, I’m not defending what it is they did.  I’m simply pointing out that in our history, we do have examples of people defying and saying they will not tolerate this and will not live under it.

It is indeed a rare occurrence, because seemingly that jewel, a more perfect union, establishing justice, ensuring domestic tranquility and what have you are laudable goals.  They are things that men and civilizations that have lived in close quarters with one another have sought for time immemorial.  It has been a rare instance that that has been accomplished, hasn’t it?  It is indeed again an even more rare instance that when it was accomplished and when it was realized, the even more rare occurrence, and we’re certainly not enjoying that rare occurrence today, is that it was preserved and defended.  This is why a written constitution was said to be the solution.  This is what would preserve it and what would defend it.  Question to you, fair citizen: Is it preserving it?  Is it defending it?  The answer, my friends, is an unequivocal, unconditional no.

Let’s pretend as if there is no history that has gone before us and it is our decision to make, and that our fate is indeed in our own hands.  We are supposed to actually be — doesn’t the Constitution, or what’s left of it, guarantee to each of us a republican form of government?  We’re told that the republican form of government has already acted and there is no relief from it when it comes to the Affordable Care Act, Social Security Act, Medicare Act, Endangered Species Act, name your act.  We’re told those are permanent things.  Permanent?  You told us that God wasn’t even permanent.  Science is the only thing that’s permanent.  Now the government that we live under and all its prior machinations are now permanent, really?  It doesn’t sound like a republican form of government to me.  It doesn’t sound like a place where the democratic process that we so desperately want to export all around the known universe, that doesn’t sound very democratic to me.

So what is to be done?  That’s the question, citizen, that only you can answer.  Only you can answer that.  I am quite certain and I fear that I have troubled your patience too much already, but I am quite certain that the great body politic, the people of these United States, will sheepishly acquiesce yet again.  Once this goes into law, and once our national hissy fit and temper tantrum is completed, we’ll all then begin the process of winnowing out what it is that we’re going to extract from the Affordable Care Act and all the other tortuous acts of the federal leviathan.  Then we can begin the process of organizing groups to defend the parts of the law that you actually like.
