Malvasi – Consumer Credit Society Impoverishes Wealth And Soul

Mandeville, LA – Exclusive Transcript – "According to the Reuters News Agency, the Sparkasse Bank in Chemnitz recently issued a MasterCard adorned with the hoary visage of Marx himself. So, now you can get a MasterCard Karl Marx edition. Doesn’t this play right into Marx’s adage that the capitalist would sell the very rope that would be used to hang himself?" Temporary Abuses Of The System Become Permanent Abuses, AKA Entitlements

Mandeville, LA – Exclusive Transcript – People love to call radio shows and make Twitter and Facebook posts all about Saul Alinsky, who’s dead, and whose Rules for Radicals can inspire us to be Obama-like and understand what the Obamabots are doing. I think what the Obamabot zombies are doing is a lot more related to, as I discussed earlier, the transfer of wealth than you may be willing to admit. The reason why people are not willing to admit it or don’t want to admit it is because that means they have to bail on much of the visual and aural that has been created that says this is all a pinko-commie, Eastern bloc, socialist plot that we’re in the middle of. The Affordable Care Act – More Lies, Deceptions, And Regulations

Mandeville, LA – Exclusive Transcript – Some of us have been telling you all along that the only reason and the only way this thing passed was that it passed with the blessing, and I would say with the great excitement and anticipation of, number one, large chains and large hospital organizations, and number two, large insurance companies that are going to ultimately provide most of the exchange coverages. Patrick Deneen Asks A Great Question: “What Is An American Conservative?”

Mandeville, LA – Exclusive Transcript – There is an essay at The American Conservative Magazine website. [mocking] “Mike, you were hard on The American Conservative Magazine yesterday.” Yeah, well, I was just being honest. I don’t ask for jingoism from anyone else, so I don’t expect that anyone expects they’re going to get jingoism or Homerism from yours truly. In any event, The American Conservative Magazine’s Patrick J. Deneen posts what I think is an article -- this is not internet folly, not fantasy, not made up and comprised of a bunch of forwarded, hackneyed emails that aren’t true. The title of the piece is “What Is an American Conservative?” That is a great question. Check out today's transcript for the rest...

David Stockman’s “Sundown In America”

Mandeville, LA – Exclusive Transcript – Back to David Stockman, there are a couple more stats from the “Sundown in America” essay that he wrote. You can find it in today’s Pile of Prep. If you’re not already convinced, after I read you the rollover of the debt from the first hour, Stockman isn’t finished with his rundown. I’m skipping here. This thing is 18 pages long if printed. I’m only going to get to about a page and a half during the entire three hours. Check out today’s transcript for the rest…

Why Capitalism Is NOT a Substitute For republicanism

Mandeville, LA - On today's show I mention this wonderful post of a speech Dr. Russel Kirk gave in 1988. After reading this piece I was moved to take the task of promoting this work because it says everything about modern conservatism (which is a misnomer now see here) and why it is doomed to fail with reverting to "small is beautiful conservation." Thanks to Winston Elliot III and The Imaginative Conservative blog for the post.

Increase In Community Can Lead To A Decrease In Government

Mandeville, LA – Exclusive Transcript – Angelo Codevilla had written about how the elites, whether they’re Democrats or Republicans, pretty much all go to the same schools, live in or near the same cities, attend the same parties, go to the same functions. Most of these functions and events we’re describing here and talking about are not attended by people like us, people that might go to a Tea Party rally or may go to a republican ReFounding Father Society meeting or something to that effect. Monopoly Is Not Much Fun When You’re A Property On The Board

Mandeville, LA – Exclusive Transcript – How does all this play out? Ladies and gentlemen, it plays out horrifically because it cannot continue. The only reason it continues now is because people fear the government. They fear what’s going to happen to them if they don’t pay their taxes. They fear what’s going to happen to them if they don’t march in lockstep as they’re being told to march in lockstep. They fear what’s going to happen to them. Capitalism is NOT What Conservatives Think It Is

Mandeville, LA - Exclusive Transcript - This is an Inigo Montoya moment. It does not mean what you think it does. What you mean to say is free enterprise, that’s what you mean to say. You do not mean to say capitalism. As Thomas Fleming points out at Chronicles Magazine, there is a reason for that. This story is posted in its entirety in today’s Pile of Prep. Here’s what Fleming writes about the use of the term capitalism. As we continue our education together, ladies and gentlemen, let’s read the Earl of Chesterfield, learn a little Latin, read some classic works together, read founders source documents, and let’s get our terminology straight.

Roepke: Property Ownership Most Important in Capitalism

Mandeville, LA - Exclusive Transcript - There’s another great story at The Imaginative Conservative website about Wilhelm Roepke, the great Austrian economist and the kind of economics we ought to be talking about. We’re having this big, vainglorious discussion about the merits of Republican central economic planning versus the merits of Democrat central economic planning. They’re both central economic planners. As Governor Romney exhibited at VMI, yes, we’ll spread free trade and goodness and, I’m trying to remember how he put it, we will spread prosperity around the world through our military. Yes, when our military spends money, the world is happy. So this is military Keynesianism. We reject it in the form of stimulus and green cars and green amoeba fart plants and green solar panels and windmills and what have you, but when it comes in the form of military spending, that’s good. It’s still government spending. You still must do it within the confines of the Constitution and you must justify all of it. As I said, job one is the veterans. That’s not on the table, that’s job one. Check out the rest in today's transcript...
