Conservative, Tea Party, And Republican Are Not Synonyms

Mandeville, LA – Exclusive Transcript – Here’s the headline from the magazine post: “Why the Tea Party Can’t Govern.” Here, let me give you the tease, “Something is seriously wrong with conservatism.” Let me stop right there. Damn skippy, yeah! Hello!? Conservatism is an advertising slogan. That’s what’s wrong with it. Anything that becomes an ism, you might say, is probably, going back to Frohnen’s post about “What is this Thing called Virtue?” is something that is not going to produce results that people think it’s going to produce. The Power Genie Is Out Of The Bottle And Running Amok In The National Government

Mandeville, LA – Exclusive Transcript – I think that the point to be made is that when it comes to the IRS, how is it that they obtained this unbelievable power to do and to perform the tormenting things they are accused of performing, which by the way they do. Same thing with the attorney general. How in dude’s holy name does the Injustice Department acquire the awesome, unbelievable power to be micromanaging and rifling through the phone records of investigative journalists? We Have An Empire… Should We Just Face It?

Mandeville, LA - Exclusive Video and Audio - According to Daniel McCarthy's post at the American Conservative, "How a Federal Republic Becomes an Ideological Empire", little r [r]epublicans and localists need to just drop your delusions, face the facts, and become good little nationalists yourselves. Daniel makes many good points about HOW we got to this point, including how the Founders, especially James Madison, could not have predicted many of the things that were going to happen in the country in the coming years and the safeguards they were trying to create to keep us from having a national government, simply were not enough. But his conclusion, that little r [r]epublicans are delusional and Quixotic in their philosophy and must start thinking more nationally and Empirically is something that we believe is impossible. Interview with Daniel McCarthy: Future of Conservatism Post-Romney

Mandeville, LA - Exclusive Transcript - Yesterday, Mike interviewed Daniel McCarthy from The American Conservative Magazine on the the future of conservatism post-Romney, here's a quote from that interview and you can find the rest of the interview right here at mikechurch.com, "It’s not really the case that everything is constantly changing and conservatism has to therefore have no principles and float free on the ocean, so to speak, and keep transforming itself. It is a case, unfortunately, that even in a constitutional republic -- and unfortunately we’ve moved away from being a strict constitutional republic and become much more of a sort of plebiscitary democracy, a mass democracy. In a government like that, unfortunately, there is a very, very large amount of change. Conservatives have to be aware of that, and they have to be aware of it sort of on two levels: not only on the superficial level of seeing what’s actually happening, seeing how people are in fact voting. If people are voting for things we don’t like, we have to acknowledge that and be able to persuade them. We have to address them where we are. "

Interview With Daniel McCarthy

Mandeville, LA - Exclusive Transcript - This is an excerpt from Daniels interview on the show today concering the 2012 Election and whether we'll see a discussion on war, for the entire interview, please check out the transcript: "Both political parties are locked into a set of habits, a set of ideological thought patterns that they developed 20, 30, 40, even 50 years ago. With the Democrats, you’ve seen this with their approach to the economy where it’s all Keynesianism. They have not deviated from the pattern that was set down during the New Deal and Great Society. The Republican Party, they’re locked into still the Cold War mentality, not only when it comes to having the massive military, and without having the Soviet Union to fight against, they’ve now gone off and started new crusades for democracy and other abstractions around the world."
