Inauguration Speech of Thomas Jefferson 4 March, 1801 Friends and Fellow-Citizens: CALLED upon to undertake the duties of the first executive office of our country, I avail myself of the presence of that portion of my fellow-citizens which is here assembled to express my grateful thanks for the favor with which they have been pleased to look toward me, to declare a sincere consciousness that the task is above my talents, and that I approach it with those anxious and awful presentiments which the greatness of the charge and the weakness of my powers so justly inspire.

Mandeville, LA - Exclusive Video and Audio - Russell Kirk asked, "Can there be any robust conservatism in American life WITHOUT a religious devotion?" The answer is a resounding "No". He also wrote that a society that denies religion also lacks faith, charity, and compassion and "When a nation ignores the divine authority, it soon commits the excesses of fanatic nationalism, intoxicated with its own unchecked power, which have made the twentieth century terrible." He wrote this back in 1957, how do you think he would feel now? With everyone clamouring for one-size-fits-all solutions for everything from gun laws to abortions and America having troops in practically every country on the planet? Mandeville, LA - Exclusive Video and Audio - Think you can keep your booty (Websters - "a rich gain or prize") from being taxed? Maybe by going the 1099 route on your income? Nope, not gonna happen. Everywhere you go, you are taxed. Buying gas? Taxed. Buying Groceries? Taxed. Using a cell phone? Taxed. I think you get the picture. All of these items have Federal taxes on them, and where is all of this tax money going? Well, they're trying to cure society, trying to make water more clean, trying to make fossil fuels more clean... wait, no they're not. They're lining the pockets of their friends in those businesses and keeping the lobbyists employed. Mandeville, LA - Exclusive Video and Audio - The Surveillance State has now so corrupted the Surveillance State workers that the Surveillance President must now order gubbmint spooks to spy on each other lest another Edward Snowden appear. This could be interpreted to mean that Snowden was only cleared for level 3 of 6 levels of government deception and a level 4 is about to blow. So what happens when you create government agencies to spy on other government agencies? Are they trying to create more jobs? Or is it going to keep them so busy spying on each other, that they won't have the time to spy on private citizens? (Wishful thinking, I know.) Mandeville, LA - Exclusive Video and Audio - Religion should not be directly associated with politics or any political party as Rick Santorum seems to think. However, religion should be a part of politicians, and everyone else's, lives as it informs our decisions and helps us do the right thing. One person who had it right was Dr. Martin Luther King on the Mike Douglas Show discussing the Vietnam War. He believed that the Vietnam War was unjust and so costly that no one should be fighting in it and we were on the losing end of it. And that our loyalty to our country should not be measured by our ability to kill but by our ability to lead. Mandeville, LA - Exclusive Video and Audio - Gun purchases have more than doubled in the United States since 2009, people are literally buying guns and ammo like it's going out of style. So why are people doing this? Do you think that you're not going to be able to purchase some of these weapons in the near future? Or are you buying them to protect yourself and your family? If you're buying them for defense, well, that's a pretty valid reason. If you're buying them because you think the GOVERNMENT is going to come take away all your guns, well ask yourself, why would they? Why would they want to stop the gravy train? They are lining their pockets in D.C. with tax payers money, much of which comes from the people that stock up on Guns, ammo, gold, and silver. So really, why stop that? "This is another interesting point of discussion when we talk about this. Exactly what is a State? Is a State a geographical entity? Well, you could say that you call the State of Georgia, for example, Georgia because of the border it has with Tennessee and South Carolina and Alabama and Florida, which are very well-defined and well-known, but does that make it a State or is that just a boundary where that State ends and the next State begins?"

Mandeville, LA – Exclusive Transcript – Just looking at the electoral map of Virginia, you have an entire state, I’d say about 90 percent of the geographical area, is entirely red. These aren’t even close reds. Click on any one of the counties and not one of them is a horse race. Then you have a couple pockets of the virus. The virus is those teat-sucklers that work for Mordor. If you look close on that map, if you blow it up, you can even see the perpendicular lines where those three counties have been carved out of the ten-mile square. Mandeville, LA - Church Doctrine - When I think of the US Air Force I think of its theme song “Off we go, into the wild blue yonder… nothing can stop the US Air Force,” nothing except a misunderstood use of the first Amendment. You see, the Air Force Academy is under fire for asking cadets to recite its oath, “[w]e will not lie, steal or cheat nor tolerate among us anyone who does. Furthermore, I resolve to do my duty and live honorably, so help me God.”

Mandeville, LA - Exclusive Video and Audio - Everyone keeps worrying about whether or not the Federal Government is going default on its debt, well it's not. Congress has already approved the spending to pay the interest on the debt and the first thing Obama has to do is pay off that debt. So STOP WORRYING (or hoping) that we're going to default on our debt. What everyone is arguing about right now is whether or not we can BORROW more to SPEND more, if that makes any sense. Mandeville, LA – Exclusive Transcript – What’s a cult? Back in the day, a couple thousand years ago, humans organized into cults. Almost all cults had their basis in religion. It doesn’t matter what religion it was, whether it was Buddhism or mysticism or Judaism or Islam before the advent of the prophet Mohammed. I guess there were Hellenic religions, worshiping or believing in Greek gods and then Roman gods and what have you. It didn’t matter because the cult organized itself around the religion. Mandeville, LA – Exclusive Transcript – The big story here in New Orleans is how FEMA has come in here and is altering the flood zone maps. This is FEMA, the organization that you love to hate if you live anywhere where there’s ever been a natural disaster. I shouldn’t say ever, where there has been a natural disaster in the past 20 years. The federal government has charged FEMA with bailing out the NFIP program. Mandeville, LA - Exclusive Transcript - This particular post here by Jeffrey Tucker just strikes a nerve with myself and I'm sure with many of you because Tucker puts into words something that we have tried to put into words here and have been unsuccessful in doing so, I think. But now that I have this one I'm going to keep it at the ready.

MANDEVILLE, LOUISIANA - Exclusive Transcript - As Americans have come to accept the notion that the government must take from one group in order to help another, lest you be a selfish-greedy- ne'er-do-well, it evinces a purposeful design to alter the very essence of right and wrong whereby literal theft is passively accepted as coerced-compassion. Moreover, it changes how we view ourselves, by disconnecting our very tangible labors and what we receive in exchange for them, i.e. wages as our personal property and replaces it with a nationalistic indentured servitude whereby our work is for the benefit of the state first and our families or selves second. Thus, should a man come to your home, threaten you with violence at gunpoint, rob you of your possessions, and on his way out the door decide to let you keep a pittance of what he stole, you should smile, and thank him for the generous tax cut.

Mandeville, LA - Exclusive Video and Audio - Join us on today's Founders TV with special guests Mark Kreslins and Dwayne Stovall. Dwayne is considering running against Senator John Cornyn who, as he puts it, is a "Democrat in a Republican T-Shirt". Cornyn is not a friend of republicanism, federalism, or limited government. He is more historically aligned with a nationalist like Alexander Hamilton than a supporter of individual liberty like Thomas Jefferson. For more on Mr. Stovall's views and running against Sen. Cornyn, visit his website here, and be sure and check out the rest of today's Founders TV for the full interview with him and Mark and sign up for a Founders Pass if you haven't already!

I think the chief problem we have is actually that whats called education in this area is mis-education. Another way of putting that is that there's such a disjunct between quote/unquote constitutional law in the Constitution that you understand the Constitution better by just reading it than you would if you took a class in constitutional law from, you know, a professor at some elite law school or some elite university. Yeah, essentially whats happened is that studying judicial opinions has been substituted for studying the actual Constitution.

MANDEVILLE, LOUISIANA - Exclusive Transcript - One-day after establishment Republicans unveiled their new Pledge to America, ergo Contract with America2.0, it is obvious, the loyal opposition no longer cares to aspire to the brand of smaller government rhetoric promised during the 1990s and most certainly no longer resembles in any fashion, the ideals espoused by former President Ronald Reagan during the Goldwater era.

Ladies and gentlemen, if you look at the cover of Newsweek magazine this week, I dont have AG, see if you can find this for me. Somebody sent it to me last night, and I was just so exhausted yesterday I passed out with my MacBook in my hand. And I know that page is open because I was reading it, but I dont have it here in front of me. Its a story about how the Founding Fathers were a bunch of creeps. These men are not to be embalmed or held high. They were a bunch of atheistic gamblers and what have you here. There was nothing extraordinary about them, so we should get over it.

Mandeville, LA - Exclusive Video and Audio - An interesting report came out today about U.S. growth shrinking in every section of the economy except two: home construction (supported by Government) and... Government. Does this surprise anyone? The entire economy is propped up on Bernanke's funny money so no one is spending, no one can save, and this includes businesses and private individuals. But as long as the Federal Government can keep printing money, they can keep inflating their own sectors of the economy and making themselves look great at the expense of every other private business. I just stop sometimes, I just marvel, seriously marvel at what liberty has created on these shores. We have things that no civilization in the history of Earth, hell, in the known universe, going all the way back to the cantina bar on Tatooine, or Dantooine. No one has had access to the stuff that Americans take for granted. And all you have to do is go to a birthday party to see it on display. You have every manner of food that you could imagine. Every manner of it. You got chicken, you got fajitas, you got pulled pork, you got briskets, you got hot dogs, you got hamburgers. Not only do you have hotdogs and hamburgers, there are 35,000 different ways to get hotdogs and hamburgers. If you’re kosher, you can get a kosher frank. If you’re not, you can get an Oscar Mayer frank. You want hamburgers, you can make them yourself. You can buy Bubba burgers already pre-frozen. You could go to your local deli. They may be stamping them out, nice little cubed out round portions and what have you. It’s just amazing the things you can get.

Back to Mr. Herbert Meyer, who was, in case you’re wondering what his pedigree is, this is the guy that wrote the piece “Revolution” that I’ve been reading you the last 12 minutes. Herbert Meyer served during the Reagan administration as a special assistant to the Director of Central Intelligence and vice chairman of the CIA’s National Intelligence Council. He holds the U.S. National Intelligence Distinguished Service Medal award, which is the intelligence community’s highest honor. He is also an author. So just so you’ll know.

Mandeville, LA - Exclusive Video and Audio - Just because the NSA is snooping on people for "national security" reasons doesn't mean the Constitution should be thrown out the window, in fact, the opposite should be true. In times when the government has abused it's power the Constitution should be our guiding light to protect our civil liberties. Most of us can agree that keeping an eye on foreign enemies is generally a good thing, but it crosses a line when you start wiretapping American Citizens for "national security". The reason why this animates me and sets me off is because this idea, this idea is at the heart of the cancer. That guy that called me last hour is evidence of the left’s success. The guy that said, “Eh, Kennedy says that ask not what you can do for your — what your government can do for you, what you can do for your government. And the only reason I’m able to drive this truck around the country is because of our government and how wonderful it is, this and that and the other.” That guy had it exactly backwards, that the government created prosperity, it did no such thing; that the government created freedom, it did no such thing; that the government created opportunity, it did and does no such thing. It infringes on opportunity. It infringes on freedom. It is there specifically for — or it is there to execute specific purposes, specific initiatives. It has specific objectives, that it was agreed in Philadelphia in 1787.

Mandeville, LA - Exclusive Video and Audio - Why would you need a truancy law if going to school was the responsibility of the Parents? Can't the parents decide if their children can go to school without worrying about being fined? Well, when the state controls the school and the state decides that children must go to school because their public schools are the GREATEST THING EVER CREATED, then the truancy law "makes sense". But the education of our children ultimately lies with the parents, because we know how well the public schools are working right now... Mandeville, LA - Exclusive Video and Audio - There's an article at The Imaginative Conservative by Bruce Frohnen entitled "What the Constitution Can, and Can't, Do". The purpose of a Constitution is not to bequeath rights to people or establish some social order protected by government. We do have a Bill of Rights that says that people that reside within the states reserve the right to regulate a militia and establish their own church... which would be run by their state legislature. Even Patrick Henry was going to impose a mandatory tithe to support the chosen church of Mr. Henry. And he would've succeeded had it not been for Mr. Jefferson and Mr. Madison stepping in and saying basically that "that's not religious liberty" and it's not a good idea for religion to get in bed with government... much like it has now. Mandeville, LA – Exclusive Transcript – If you’re going to have any chance for survival, you’re going to have to have some foundational things that everyone can agree on and you can build societies and civilizations around, that there’s no disagreement on, or very little disagreement on. Mandeville, LA – Exclusive Transcript – We’re talking about civilizing young men and how we are anti-civilizational now by our own actions. What kind of society could possibly survive when it is careening towards becoming like the animal kingdom? Mandeville, LA – Exclusive Transcript – This is a very dangerous thing that we have done. We are flirting with disaster. We are flirting with human misery. We are not the exception to the rule of human nature, sir. We are humans. We are fallible. Human nature does not change over continents. In our arrogance and saying things like you just said, we make ourselves “We’re the exception. We would never rain that kind of tyranny.” Sad fact of the matter is that we have.
