Mandeville, LA – Exclusive Transcript – The filmmaker, his point was to illustrate or demonstrate that the Reverend King wasn’t just a civil rights campaigner, that he cared about civil rights and the civil liberties of all Americans. Mandeville, LA – Exclusive Transcript – Is it patriotic to dissent? I think it’s patriotic to try to talk your country out of going to war. When you see the photographs of the aftermath of American exceptionalism in Iraq, American exceptionalism in Kosovo, American exceptionalism in Somalia and what have you, when you see the aftermath of this and you see the destruction that is wrought by this, if this level and type of destruction were wrought upon an American city by any other government on Earth, it wouldn’t matter which one it was, our response would be outrage. Mandeville, LA – Exclusive Transcript – Why can’t Republicans, why can’t war hawks, admit the exact same thing? Your devotion to a warlike way of life does nothing more than create more warlike situations. We are in a perpetual warlike situation. By your own admission, we’re not safe. Hell, we’ve spent more money in the last ten years than we’ve spent in almost all years combined as a union, and yet you keep telling us that we’re more threatened and more in peril than we ever have been. Mandeville, LA - Exclusive Transcript - The American tradition is not necessarily changing power. The American tradition is congratulating one’s self on the illusion that there is this thing called freedom. If you were to define freedom, what is freedom? Is freedom freewill? Is it the exercise of freewill, living under the moral order of God? Is that what freedom is? If it is, then please explain to me how you are free today. You certainly may be free to do certain things but under penalty of confiscation of wealth and under penalty of imprisonment. Check out today's transcript for the rest...
