Happy Birthday to Timothy Pickering: Supporter of NORTHERN Secession

Mandeville, LA - Exclusive Video and Audio - Today is the birthday of one Timothy Pickering. Now, not too many people are familiar with Pickering but more people should be. Why? Because he was one of the first people to be in favor of states seceding from the Union. Oh, but not just ANY states... the NORTHERN STATES! One of the main reasons that people like Pickering (and other Northerners) wanted the North to secede was because the South was in complete control of the Federal Government up until about 1860... just imagine how American History would have turned out if the North would have been successful in seceding! So enjoy today's history lesson about Timothy Pickering and secession in today's Founders TV! And be sure and sign up for a Founders Pass to listen to the entire show!

Interview with Chuck Thompson, Author of “Better Off Without ’em”

Mandeville, LA - Exclusive Audio and Transcript - On today's show, Chuck Thompson, author of "Better Off Without 'em" joined Mike for a friendly discussion about secession. Chuck believes that the North and South have gone their separate ways for over 200 years not only in politics, but also in culture, so why not have an amicable split? There are, of course, a few details that Mike and Chuck disagree on (like Texas going to the North?) but the overall idea is basically the same, that the more local the government, the better for everyone involved. For more with Chuck, check out today's transcript and a clip from his interview...

Mandeville, LA - Exclusive Video and Audio - Three weeks after Obama's election and the talk of Secession is still going strong... especially in Texas. In fact, Larry Kilgore is running for Governor of Texas and will even change his name to Larry SECEDE Kilgore. But what about Ron Paul? In an interview with Mike earlier in the year he said the he didn't really think Secession was a very good idea... but lately he's changed his mind about it, which he doesn't do very often, so what's cause him to change his mind. Well, Ron is from Texas and if they seceded, they would probably have to re-write the Constitution to have a President, and he could certainly run for that office... Jimmy Madison Hid 1794 Secession Pamphlet To Preserve Union

There are four men that are mentioned in this that were in the Philadelphia Convention that framed the Constitution. All four of them realized the gravity of what it is they're discussing in 1794 in Congress. Three of them decide that the solution is disunion. The fourth says I don't think you should do that, but he doesn't say that they can't do it. Do I have your attention and your interest now?

Why Fort Sumter Was Defended From Federals By Patriots

Of course, the story goes that Lincoln refused to see the commissioners because he knew that his force had been sent down to Charleston Harbor. It is believed by many that he was hoping that there would be a confrontation and he could use that as an excuse to threaten the South Carolinians with a full invasion and force them to undo their recent secession and rejoin the Union. That was the plan.
