Mandeville, LA - Mike Church's daily Pile of Prep, chock full of Founding Father, secession goodness DeceptiCON recrimination stories used to perform the Mike Church Show on Sirius/XM Patriot channel 125. "The Virginia convention provided, along with its New York counterpart, the most erudite and complete commentary on the interpretation of the fundamental law besides the records of the Constitutional Convention itself. In situations of disputed authority, the states possessed….Continue
Mandeville, LA - Exclusive Transcript - I believe somewhere in my closet at home, I have at least one shirt that was sewn together by the people of Bangladesh. They’re big into textiles. Should we get together and have a Bangladesh burning party? We’ll all get our fabrics and shirts together and anything that has been made in Bangladesh. I think I bought the Bangladeshi shirt because I try not to buy anything that’s made in China, and it’s almost impossible to do. ….Continue

Mandeville, LA - Exclusive Transcript - Stephen Masty posts this poem at The Imaginative Conservative website. I laughed and I cried as I read this last night and I wanted to share it with the audience. It’s great prose. We don’t have enough poetry, which is one of the beautiful things in life that we seem to believe we can do without, unless it is contained in a Bob Seger or John Cougar or Rush song these days. How about some actual writt….Continue

Mandeville, LA -Exclusive Audio and Transcript - If I were the Romney campaign, I would just bail on this macho man. If you listen to the speech at the VFW the other day, the only thing missing was Governor Romney walking out on the stage to Macho Man by Village People. It is not too much of a stretch to envision Romney pulling a Dukakis and showing up at some rally commanding a Sherman tank, because he’s a new military macho man for 2013 instead of a thoughtful, thought….Continue

Was Secession A Constitutional Right? 1868 Book Concluded It Was. "It was in 1833, for the frst time in the history of the country, that it was solemnly asserted and argued, that the Constitution of the 'United States was not a compact between the States. This new doctrine simultaneously put forth, by Mr. Justice Story in his "Commentaries on the Constitution of the 'United States," and by Mr. Daniel Webster in "the greatest intellectual effort of his life," that is, in his great speech in the Senate of the I6th of February, 1833. In order to show that the Constitution is not a compact between the States, the position is assumed, that it is not a compact at all. If it be a compact, say they, then the States had a right to secede. But it is not a compact; and hence secession is treason and rebellion. The great fundamental questions, then, on which the whole controversy hinges are, first, Is the Constitution a compact? and, secondly, Is it a compact between the States?" - Albert Bledsoe, Was Secession A Constitutional Right (1868)
