This Day In Founding Fathers History – 4 June

Missouri TerritoryOn this day in 1812, the Territory of Missouri was organized as an incorporated territory of the United States. Originally known as the Louisiana Territory, the Missouri Territory was renamed such after the State of Louisiana was formed in April 1812. 1

One notable birthday on this day in 1738, that of George III. He was born to Frederick, Prince of Wales and Princess Augusta of Saxe-Gotha. Upon his father’s death, he became heir to the throne to succeed his grandfather, George II. King George III is best known for two things: losing the American colonies and going mad. 2
