Mandeville, LA – Exclusive Transcript – Who was it that attracted young people to his rallies, in numbers never seen at a Romney rally, at a Santorum rally, at a Gingrich rally, at a Huckabee rally?  Who is it that is inspiring youth across the country who are not Republicans?  They may not even be registered anything to get into politics, to start paying attention, to start advocating liberty.  Who is it?  They act as though this is some kind of Rubik’s cube and you can’t figure it out.  I’ll tell you how you attract young voters to the GOP: Ron Paul.  Ooh, I said it, Ron Paul.

Mike:  This is Daniel Larison writing about a post by Jonah Goldberg.  In the post, Goldberg is asking the question of how does the GOP attract younger voters?  That’s what Goldberg is asking.  Two of the answers are: you recruit and promote Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio.  You promote and advocate these two, not only do you have young guys, but you have Latino young guys.  Now we’re really talking here.  The advantage of the Latino young guy is they may attract the youth vote.  The youth are going to flock.  Here’s what Goldberg wrote:

Going forward, the GOP needs to figure out a way to become more appealing to new constituencies, particularly younger voters and Latinos.

james-madison-gutzman-ad-signMike:  They go through mental gymnastics to try to make Ted Cruz, running for Senate in Texas, and Marco Wilson Rubio, bomber in chief, desperately trying to become vice president material here.  Larison goes through the exercise here of how you may do this and how you may appeal to younger voters.  I’m reading this whole thing and going, has the entire conservative movement and Republican Party just gone totally stupid since I went to bed last night?  Who was it that attracted young people to his rallies, in numbers never seen at a Romney rally, at a Santorum rally, at a Gingrich rally, at a Huckabee rally?  Who is it that is inspiring youth across the country who are not Republicans?  They may not even be registered anything to get into politics, to start paying attention, to start advocating liberty.  Who is it?  They act as though this is some kind of Rubik’s cube and you can’t figure it out.  I’ll tell you how you attract young voters to the GOP, Mr. Goldberg: Ron Paul.  Ooh, I said it, Ron Paul.

He also has this wonderful, wonderful résumé that you could bring to the GOP convention and to the campaign: 34 years in the House of Representin’ and never voted for a tax increase, 34 years in the House of Representin’ and never voted for an unconstitutional act.  He wouldn’t even vote to spend $80 to have freedom medals printed.  It’s not constitutional, he said.  Thirty-four years of devotion and fidelity to the U.S. Constitution.  There’s no gamer-y with Ron Paul.  There’s no jokes.  This man is serious; he’s always been serious.  We have serious problems, but no, [mocking] “Mike, he doesn’t want to bomb the Iranians and he wants Israel to defend itself with its own money.  We can’t have anyone like that anywhere near our ethereal, imperial capital city on the banks of the Potomac River.  That’s just not being realistic.”  You’re not being realistic!  I say to those that are pining away for an attraction to young voters, you had it, you laughed at it, you mocked him, you kicked him out of the damn party basically, Ron Paul.
