Mandeville, LA – Exclusive Transcript – It’s not as though there are just tens of thousands of them that are maybe working, toiling away in obscurity, trying to keep the country safe.  Ladies and gentlemen, there are hundreds of thousands.  If you count all of them up together, they’re in the millions.  There are over 900,000 top-level security clearances that have been issued by the American federal government.  To do what?  How could you possibly need one-fifth the population of Scotland to pry and spy on the rest of the known universe?  And by the way, why is it that the rest of the known universe so viciously hates everyone in the United States that makes the spying necessary?  Check out today’s transcript for the rest…

Mike:  Former Congressman Ron Paul [mocking] “Why do you always have to bring Ron Paul into it?”  Because he’s one of the wisest, smartest men alive and maybe we ought to listen to him for a change from time to time.  Congressman Paul posts in his weekly column Texas Straight Talk “Why Won’t They Tell Us the Truth About NSA Spying?”

In 2001, the Patriot Act opened the door to US government monitoring of Americans without a warrant. It was unconstitutional, but most in Congress over my strong objection were so determined to do something after the attacks of 9/11 that they did not seem to give it too much thought. Civil liberties groups were concerned, and some of us in Congress warned about giving up our liberties even in the post-9/11 panic. But at the time most Americans did not seem too worried about the intrusion.

james-madison-gutzman-ad-signMike:  I got news for you, Congressman Paul, they still aren’t concerned about it.  [mocking] “What do we have to hide?  What are you worried about it for?”  See previous conversation as to why you should worry about it.

This complacency has suddenly shifted given recent revelations of the extent of government spying on Americans. Politicians and bureaucrats are faced with serious backlash from Americans outraged . . .

Mike:  There are about a dozen and a half of us, last time I counted.  I actually got up to 17 outraged citizens if I am polling my Facebook fan page, maybe 18.  There was some outrage over this.  We can’t be dragged away from reruns of first-run TV series that came on this fall.  We can’t be dragged away from Housewives of New Jersey and brand-new season of Miami Dance Moms.  Back to the story:

They had been told that only the terrorists would be monitored. In response to this anger, defenders of the program have time and again resorted to spreading lies and distortions. But these untruths are now being exposed very quickly.

In a Senate hearing this March . . .

Mike:  Then he tells the story about how Senator Ron Wyden point blank asked James Clapper, the Director of National Intelligence: Hey, are you guys collecting data on Americans?  Are you stockpiling storing data on American citizens without warrants?  [mocking] “No, no, no, we would never do that.”

Pressed on his false testimony before Congress, Clapper apologized for giving an “erroneous” answer but claimed it was just because he “simply didn’t think of Section 215 of the Patriot Act.” Wow.

america-secede-or-die-t-shirtMike:  But this wasn’t the sole incident.  See folks, this is where you’ve got to look beyond the news that is fed to you from major news organizations who have major horses in the continuation of our spyfare, surveillance, and warfare state.  They have a vested interest in the outcome of this.  It needs to continue.  That is their vested interest.  I’ll explain why in a moment.

As the story broke in June of the extent of warrantless NSA spying against Americans, House Intelligence Committee Chairman Mike Rogers assured that the project was a strictly limited and not invasive. He described it as a “lockbox with only phone numbers, no names, no addresses in it, we’ve used it sparingly, it is absolutely overseen by the legislature, the judicial branch and the executive branch, has lots of protections built in…”

But we soon discovered that also was not true either. We learned in another Guardian newspaper article last week that the top secret “X-Keyscore” program allows even low-level analysts to “search with no prior authorization through vast databases containing emails, online chats and the browsing histories of millions of individuals.”

The keys to Rogers’ “lockbox” seem to have been handed out to everyone but the janitors! As Chairman of the Committee that is supposed to be most in the loop on these matters, it seems either the Intelligence Community misled him about their programs or he misled the rest of us. It sure would be nice to know which one it is. [Mike:  He’s a member of Congress, Congressman Paul.  They would never lie.  They would never do such a dastardly, despicable thing, would they?  They are after all our magisterial federal overlords.]

Likewise, Rep. Rogers and many other defenders of the NSA spying program promised us that this dragnet scooping up the personal electronic communications of millions of Americans had already stopped “dozens” of terrorist plots against the United States. In June, NSA director General Keith Alexander claimed that the just-disclosed bulk collection of Americans’ phone and other electronic records had “foiled 50 terror plots.” [Mike: Folks, you know this news. I’m not breaking any news, but here come the bombshells.]

Opponents of the program were to be charged with being unconcerned with our security. [Mike: See Chris Christie hacking away at Senator Rand Paul’s concerns.]

But none of it was true.

The Senate Judiciary Committee yesterday heard dramatic testimony from NSA deputy director John C. Inglis. According to the Guardian:

“The NSA has previously claimed that 54 terrorist plots had been disrupted ‘over the lifetime’ of the bulk phone records collection and the separate program collecting the internet habits and communications of people believed to be non-Americans. On Wednesday, Inglis said that at most one plot might have been disrupted by the bulk phone records collection alone.”

Mike:  So we’ve gone from dozens now down to we might have foiled one?  Folks, the question remains: What in the wide, wide world of sports is going on here?  There are a couple of things at play, the least of which is the hundreds of billions of dollars that are at stake here.  These NSA spooks, these FBI agencies, analysts that work inside the federal leviathan are all on payroll.  They don’t do this stuff for free.  They go into work every day just like you do.  They have to show up on time just like the rest of us do.  They’re allegedly accountable for the work they put in or for the non-completion of their duties.  They’re supposed to go do these things just like you’re going to work today to do your things.  Of course, you’ll be taxed mightily to subsidize these people.  It’s not as though there are just tens of thousands of them that are maybe working, toiling away in obscurity, trying to keep the country safe.

Mike Church Show Transcript – Why Was There a Constitution Called For?

At the end of the discussion, what you should be able to divine or conclude is that much of this is done specifically because there are jobs attached to it, make work.  In other words, they have, using will to power, fabricated out of whole cloth, using the circumstances at their disposal — do you remember when Rahm Emanuel — AG, you were just coming into our little broadcasting family here when Rahm Emanuel, former chief of staff for President Obama, I think it was on Meet the Press he dropped the bomb that we should all remember today about this kind of stuff, “We never let a good crisis go to waste.”  That is the essence of Crisis and Leviathan, the great book by Robert Higgs.  There’s a new edition of that book out, by the bye.  Remind me to give a little info on that.  It’s a great book; you should read it.  We never let a good crisis go to waste.  Why?

According to Higgs’ theory — if you don’t know who Robert Higgs is, he’s an economist who works for the Pacific Institute, I want to say.  He wrote a book back in the 1980s called Crisis and Leviathan.  It’s basically a thesis.  The thesis is that there’s this effect he calls the ratchet effect.  What happens is there are designing, despicable men in government who use a crisis to create a need for government intervention.  They create the need for government intervention by consorting with their allies in various broadcast and other forms of media to make the threat real.  [mocking] “Oh, my God, we’ve got to do something about that!  Somebody call the government for God’s sake!”  Then they create an agency or agencies (See: TSA, Department of Homeland Insecurity).  So they create an agency out of whole cloth and we’ve got to deal with this crisis.  This crisis is going to be with us forever, you know.  Then they staff it with thousands upon thousands of these useless creatures called bureaucrats.  What does the bureaucrat do?  He’s a parasite.  He sucks off the wages of the productive, that’s what he does, what she does.  I suppose, in a perfect world, that some of them are needed, emphasis on some.

If you’re going: Mike, why is this?  I don’t subscribe to the conspiracy theory notion that there’s this plot to take over the planet and to control all of us with implanted chips and what have you.  Again, the reason I don’t is these guys already have it made.  Why would they want to bring an end to their gravy train?  This is a party for these people.  They actually have to produce nothing.  They don’t even have to produce profits.  Here in the United States, we have actually made the practice of not producing profits almost profitable by sanctioning the rise and going along with the rise of all these things called nonprofits.  Our children are trying to figure out how the hell they can get a job at a nonprofit.  Why?  There’s no accountability.  You can totally stink at what it is you do and it doesn’t matter.  You’re not producing anything anyway.  This is about transferring wealth.  I suppose there is some greed to acquire power as well, designing men being designing men and now designing women.  Thank goodness the women have gotten involved in this.  This is all about money.  Follow the money trail and you will usually find your answer.  This is about the transfer of wealth, you people that are on your way to work today, to the people that are on their way to allegedly work inside that massive catacomb known as official Washington, DC, regardless of the agency or bureau or whatever it’s called.

As former Congressman Paul points out, even when these people claim to be confessing to you, even when our so-called political leaders claim [mocking] “Hold on now, we’ve got protections and safeguards built in here.  We have to do this because we’ve done this and we’ve done that,” we continue to find that these people are and are willing to and continue to mislead if not outright lie to defend this which must be an industry.  It has to be considered an industry.  It’s not a productive one, but it is an industry, and it’s certainly not comprised of very industrious people, otherwise they’d be out here working with the rest of us.
