Mike:  Let us go to the Dude Maker Skype line and introduce you to a brand-new show that we are delighted to have here.  This is an old, old friend of mine, a dear old friend of mine, Kurt Wallace.  He will be hosting a show that he has actually been hosting for a couple of years now called The Flow.  Not the Flo as in the Flo Progressive car insurance sales hack.  We have episode one coming up this week.  I’ll let Kurt tell you all about it.  Kurt, first of all, good to talk to you, old friend.  Second of all, welcome to the Crusade Channel and the Veritas Radio Network.

Kurt Wallace:  Thanks for having me on.  It’s good talking to you as well.

Mike:  Tell the folks listening at home who don’t know anything about Kurt Wallace and The Flow, recently we could have found The Flow on another internet streaming radio.  I don’t know if they actually run a fulltime, 24/7 channel there, but they had a lot of shows there.  Where was The Flow at before?

Wallace:  The Flow was hosted at TruthInMedia.com, which is owned by Ben Swann.  He’s also a news anchor for Channel 46 CBS in Atlanta, Georgia.  Ben has a huge following.  He wanted to host a show for a little while.  Our last episode was an interview with you, Mike Church.

Mike:  Really?

Wallace:  Our first interview on your network is with Ben Swann.  It’s a friendly transition.  After you and I did the interview, we talked and you invited me to bring the show onto your network.  I’m really excited about it.  The whole premise of the show is to interview well-known people and kind of shed the preconceived ideas about the person, go toward the underlying nature and discover why the people that we’re interviewing see things the way they do, what’s happened in their lives to shape their philosophy, the struggles and triumphs that bring us to what really matters in our individual worlds.  We’re looking at those elements underneath the surface of the cool guests.  Rather than just talking about what they’ve done, we talk about who they are.

Mike:  I called The Flow with Kurt Wallace, which will be debuting tomorrow, immediately following The Modern Wrong World Made Right, hosted by yours truly.  We’re back to doing that on Tuesdays at noon.  Our first guest is Chris Ferrara with Darwin Was Wrong, Episode 2.  We’ll probably debut The Flow tomorrow.  When I heard Kurt’s show, and when we talked about this, my thought was that Kurt is Charlie Rose with cool guests.

Wallace:  Hopefully my questions are deep and interesting.  I take that as a compliment.

[private FP-Monthly|FP-Yearly|FP-Yearly-WLK|FP-Yearly-So76]

Mike:  Charlie Rose has kind of graduated now, Kurt.  He’s a regular contributor now on 60 Minutes.  The Charlie Rose Show on New York’s Public Television, he’s done over a thousand interviews.  I think that’s probably about right.  Tell the folks out there some of the other well-known people that we may look forward to interviews about and getting to know them on The Flow with Kurt Wallace, coming to the Crusade Channel beginning tomorrow.  Then we’ll settle into a regular weekly show.  You’ll always be able to get it on demand at VeritasRadioNetwork.com if you’re a Founders Pass Member.  That makes reason #8 to sign up.  Who else can we look forward to you interviewing?

Wallace:  To give you an idea of the types of guests that we’ve had so far, you, of course; Patrick Byrne, the CEO of Overstock.com; Jeffrey Tucker, who’s –

Mike:  Oh yeah.  I need to get Tucker on this show.  As a matter of fact, I think we have an invite out to him.  He’s one of my favorites.  I think you and I actually talked about that, that you had recently interviewed Jeffrey.

Wallace:  Actually, I saw him on New Year’s Day at a party here in Atlanta, Georgia, a libertarian party.  We got a chance to talk.  We’ll see him on Wednesday at an event as well here in Atlanta.  He’s with FEE, Foundation for Economic Education.  He’s a really interesting guy.  He’s a Catholic and he’s also into Gregorian chant music.  He’s an editor for a couple of websites that deal with that.  I think he’d be a great guest for you.

The_Flow_Kurt_Wallace2Mike:  We’ll definitely pursue Jeffrey Tucker.  Libertarians will be really familiar with Tucker because he’s worked in and around the Mises Institute circles for a long time, well over a decade.  You’ll immediately know Jeffrey.  He’s one of those Austrian economic guys that actually knows what he’s talking about and can write about it.  Who else, other than Tucker and me?

Wallace:  Ron Paul is another guest that we’ve had.  Tommy Chong and his wife Shelby Chong talking about cancer and cannabis and medicinal marijuana and his career as an actor and producer and comedian.  Also, a couple people that I’m targeting right now, one of them is Reggie Hayes.  Reggie Hayes is a very well-known actor who was in a show called Girlfriends.  He was voted 2007 sexiest man of the year, a really interesting guy.  I had a chance to interview him on another show.  This guy is very vulnerable.  He’s a perfect type of guest because he’s willing to talk about himself.  Those are the types of people that we want on.  If anyone has an interest in hearing a particular individual, I would love the suggestions as well.

Mike:  The interview that you did with me, which ran on Ben Swann’s site, will you be able to run that on Crusade?

Wallace:  I’ll see if I can get permission.  I don’t think there would be any problem with that.  Actually, I think they’d be glad to run all the interviews.  I’ll set that up.

Mike:  Kurt Wallace is our special guest here on the Dude Maker Hotline.  Kurt has been very active in politics and in libertarian politics and libertarian campaigning for politics since I have known him, going all the way back to – you and I met where?  At CPAC in 2009.

Wallace:  We did, yeah.  You were speaking with Gary Johnson.

Mike:  I was up there with Gary Johnson and Tim Carney.  That’s where I met Tim Carney at as well.

Wallace:  And Jack Hunter.

Mike:  Jack didn’t speak, though.  That’s when he was back in his old station in his old country back in the old days and he was the Southern Avenger.

Wallace:  Correct.  We went to have dinner afterwards with your producer at the time at Sirius XM and a few other people.  What was interesting about that event, when you were speaking, you knew history.  Gary Johnson didn’t seem to understand history.  We were asking questions given to him about Lincoln.  He didn’t really understand history at the time.  I think he’s kind of changed a little bit.

Mike:  He has changed.  He’s been invited to be a guest here on the Crusade Channel.  That’s someone that if you can actually sit him down, I guarantee you people would love to hear an interview with Governor Johnson.

Wallace:  We’ll make it happen.

Tom Mullen Conservatives and LiberalsMike:  Kurt Wallace is host of The Flow.  That is coming to the Crusade Channel and, of course, to your downloads and to your streaming downloads via the Founders Pass at VeritasRadioNetwork.com.  After Kurt and I met at this – this was a Campaign for Liberty event that I was invited to speak at.  As we just discussed, it was myself, Governor Gary Johnson, and Tim Carney.  They were speakers that night.  Kurt and Jack Hunter and I and – who was the lady who was the editor of The American Conservative, Kelly?

Wallace:  I can’t remember.  I know Tom Mullen was there.

Mike:  Tom will be a guest on Wednesday, by the way.

Wallace:  He wrote a new book.  I already bought the book.  I actually got it for Christmas.  It’s a fantastic book talking about the history of liberal philosophy, history of conservative philosophy, and history of real libertarian or classical liberal –

Mike:  That’s right.  The book is called Where Do Conservatives and Liberals Come FromWe have it in the Founders Tradin’ Post.  We have 25 signs copies that Tom sent and signed for us.  Tom will be on Wisdom Wednesday here.  We have a tightknit circle of people that I’ve known for years.  What I wanted to finish the story – it was Kurt, Jack Hunter, I think her name was Kelly, one of the associate editors of The American Conservative Magazine, Tom Mullen, and another person or two.  We all went out to dinner in the hotel restaurant that was part of where they used to have CPAC at.

Wallace:  Your brother and his wife.

Mike:  That’s right, my brother Mack and my sister-in-law Jen.

Wallace:  Wonderful couple.

Mike:  There was a conversation and we started talking about neocons and war and “bomb, bomb, bomb” and “kill, kill, kill.”  I’ll never forget this because Kelly never let me forget it in the email exchanges that we had.  Folks, I’m going to say something that may offend the tender sensibilities of some of your children.  I’ll give you five seconds to go away and ten seconds to come back.  I called some of the hacks at CPAC neocon fags.  I might have had a Scotch or two and the term just came out.  It was the funniest thing that Kelly had ever heard, apparently.  Jack yucked it up about it.  That’s really how I got to know and meet Kurt.

Then Kurt actually introduced me afterwards to Governor Johnson.  I think it was you that introduced me to Governor Johnson.  Somebody introduced me to Governor Johnson personally outside of the speaking engagement.  Of course, he ran for president twice.  I don’t know that he is going to seek – I think he is going to seek the Libertarian nomination again, last time I talked to him back in September.  We have been talking amongst friends ever since.  Kurt, looking at how the Libertarian movement is today and how it was when you and I met at CPAC in 2009, what would you say is different from – that was then, this is now.

Wallace:  I would say that there’s more maturity in the movement, better understanding of how to communicate, better understanding of how to represent.  Traditionally what I’ve seen with libertarians is just an inability to bridge the gap between political lines and ideals, ideology, and then make it practical.  I think that libertarians are gravitating toward that.  They’ve made it sexy.  They’ve made it sexy to be libertarian.  They’ve made it more compelling to look at those ideas, especially with things like the war on drugs.

The problem with, I think, libertarians in the past is they’ve been clear on: Listen, government doesn’t work for all of these issues.  What are the solutions?  What are the market solutions?  What are the ideas that have to be presented to replace the ones that are already in place?  I think government regulations are a lot of times based in good intentions.  The problem is the consequences that come with the inability for government to do it where it doesn’t have the use of force and putting people in prison or people dying, however the effects that government rules are placed on people.  I think libertarians are learning and really developing now in terms of messaging and presentation.

Mike:  Why would you think then, if the libertarians have matured – I concur that some of them have for sure – that you see then – why wouldn’t then someone like Senator Paul gravitate more towards Libertarian audiences and less from Republican audiences than he currently – let’s just pretend like he’s not running for president.  Before he was running for the presidency, he was shedding and working furiously to shed his libertarian bona fides.

Wallace:  I think that was to his detriment.

Mike:  I agree with that, by the way.  I think you’re correct.

Wallace:  That base is very important.  I’ve noticed that he’s moving back towards that more libertarian / radical push.  The radical ideas do very well in the primaries.  It’s probably why Trump is doing well.  I’m not sure that Trump is actually attracting conservatives and Republicans and libertarians.  I think he’s attracting contrarians and just pop culture and populist votes.  I’m not sure it’s actually the – he’s probably growing the Republican Party in a different way than Republicans want to see.

[/private]

Mike:  Of course, you might have heard on my setup before I put you on, I was talking about this.  I was talking about Michael Brendan Dougherty predicting that Jeb Bush is going to make a comeback, and me saying you can’t be an Eagle Scout unless you started off as a Boy Scout.  You can’t just come in and say: I’m big and bad and I deserve an Eagle Scout badge.  They’re not going to give you one unless you’re a Boy Scout.  That’s Donald Trump and the Republican Party.  The party cannot make him their nominee because he’s not a Republican.  He’s never been known as one.  He’s always been known as either an independent or a Democrat, or a mystery, at best mysterious.  That’s why the Republicans can’t have him as their nominee.

What I find fascinating about this is: How is this going to play out?  How are they going to get rid of Donald Trump?  The Republican Party voters, if we’re reading them and listening to them correctly, have about had it with John McCain and Mitt Romney and two doses of George Bush, a previous dose of Bob Dole, a dose before of Pappy Bush twice in a row.  I think the revolt is real.  I don’t think the revolt is going to be tamped down.  You know what I think GOP insiders are banking on, Kurt?  I think what they’re banking on is raw, naked fear of a Hillary presidency.  People that call themselves Republicans or conservatives will do anything, including support and vote for Jeb Bush, to avoid a Hillary presidency.

Wallace:  I would say so, anything to avoid her being president.  It would be very strange to have Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton.  I’m not sure what you do in that situation.

Mike:  If I were confronted by it, choosing lesser of two evils would come into play.  The only person I can think of that could trump “I won’t vote for Hillary” or Hillary being the lesser of two evils is if Margaret Sanger herself were reanimated and were put on the ballot in 2016.  Then I’d have to choose Hillary the Margaret Sanger wannabe over Margaret Sanger.  Folks, in any event, enough about politics.  Kurt Wallace is the host of The Flow.  The Flow is coming as a weekly broadcast to the Veritas Radio Network Crusade Channel.  Episode #1 debuts tomorrow with Ben Swann.  Tell us a little bit about Ben Swann as a teaser.

Veritas_Radio_home_4Have you tried the all new Veritas Radio Network yet?  You can listen to the Mike Church Show LIVE weekdays 8-11 CST.   The show is easier to access than ever before.  But Veritas Radio isn’t JUST Mike Church, try the exclusive shows by Brother Andre: ReConquest, David Simpson’s True Money, The Mark Kreslins Show, My Story of America with Michael T George, Reverse Deception with Gregory Carpenter and The Constitution Hour with Kevin Gutzman.  Help us continue our search for TRUTH by signing up for a Founders Pass Membership today!

Wallace:  Ben Swann is a lifelong media guy.  He made a big splash back in 2010 when he started his show on – he was a news anchor in Cincinnati, Ohio.  It was all about facts and information.  People love it on the internet.  He became a sensation online.  I forget the name of the show.  His tagline is, “Here’s what you need to know.”  He basically sets up the story and then provides the facts for you and lets you make a decision.  He’s a real representative of the Fourth Estate of media, which we don’t see much anymore, Mike.

Mike:  As you said, he has a huge online following.  Hopefully some of them will follow this interview with Kurt for episode #1 of The Flow.  Kurt, as I said, welcome to the Veritas Radio Network.  I think we can actually employ your talents in other ways and not just with The Flow.  You’ll hear a lot more from Kurt, especially as we get deeper and deeper into campaign 2016.  He is in a major media market, in Atlanta, Georgia.  Kurt, we’re delighted to have you.  Welcome aboard, brother.  Thanks for choosing Veritas Radio Network over the old home in the old country.
