The Church Traded Her Teaching Authority For Jameson’s Whiskey & Coffee

Here, it is necessary to note two meanings of the term, scandal, in Church discipline. The first and properly theological meaning of scandal is to do or omit something which leads others into error or sin. The second meaning is to do or omit something which causes wonderment (admiratio) in others. Denying Holy Communion publicly to the occult sinner involves scandal in the second sense. Giving Holy Communion to the obstinately serious and public sinner involves scandal in the first sense. – Raymond Cardinal Burke

Mandeville, LA – This morning I watched Timothy Cardinal Dolan appear of Fox and Friends and after 12 minutes of conversation, one of the 3 hosts, Steve Doocy emerged as having earned the red hat while the Cardinal’s best shot was a quip over having Irish whisky in the latté brought to him on the set (not captured on the edited video below); no wonder the faithful are angry: our shepherds are cracking jokes about culinary matters rather than making reparations for those “persevering in manifest, grave, sin” to say nothing of the cardinalate’s real job: getting souls to heaven by clearly leading their flock and instructing their minions how to do so. The Church once treated her teaching authority as its most prized and closely guarded possession outside the custody of The Sacraments; ah to return to the halcyon days of The Catacombs! But hey, it’s Monday in New York Tenochtitlan City, let’s steam up some $10 Starbucks and cork a bottle of Jameson’s to add mirth to our New York State of [perverted] Mind!

Here’s the edited video and  a partial transcript of the exchange between Doocy and Dolan, I’ve added emphasis and commentary where its needed.

Steve Doocy: There are calls from people in the Catholic Church for Governor Cuomo to be excommunicated, from the Catholic Church.

Cardinal Timothy Dolan: You’re telling me. I get wheelbarrows of letters every day. I think that would be counterproductive, myself. For one …

Steve Doocy: Well, he’s not following Catholic doctrine. [the one time “doctrine” is mentioned in the entire interview and its NOT by the cardinal].

Cardinal Timothy Dolan: Well, I don’t know if Catholic doc- — but there’s my point, Steve. We would be giving ammo to our enemies who say, ‘This is an internal Catholic disciplinary matter. This is really not civil rights. This is really not biology. These Catholics don’t have freedom when it comes to this.’ I think we’d be giving our enemies ammo. [so what? what about the ‘ammo’ Moloch has been given by Cuomocoaty’l to tempt thousands of women into committing acts the Aztecs were too timid too attempt!?]

Steve Doocy: But the Catholic Church, Cardinal, stands against abortion. And here is the most prominent Catholic in the state of New York, and he’s saying, ‘Hey, this is a good thing.’

Cardinal Timothy Dolan: And the canon laws, which you – thank you – quoted —

Steve Doocy: — [canon] Nine fifteen

Cardinal Timothy Dolan: — Would also say that you have to use it for medicinal purpose, and you think that there’s going to be a good effect that can come out of this. [That’s not what it says. Raymond Cardinal Burke addressed this issue in a very lengthy bull he authored during the 2004 elections, read the whole thing here.]

We have a governor that brags about it. We have a governor that uses his dissent from Church teaching as applause lines. We have a governor that takes quotes from Pope Francis out of context to draw an artificial cleavage between the bishops in New York and the Holy Father himself. He’s not going to be moved by this. So what would be the use? [so of a pair of heretics one chooses to take the threat of excommunication as too much, confesses his error and is reunited with The Church, the prelate involved shouldn’t bother because one remains obstinate! Why did Jesus leave 99 lambs to chase the one who fled the flock!?]

Steve Doocy: What about denying him communion? [yes! thank you Cardinal… I mean host Doocy!]

Cardinal Timothy Dolan: Well, look, that’s — you’re making me — I don’t rarely get restless, but I am. That’s kind of a pastoral issue that I think one has to talk to him about. [No, its not, its a public outrage that you can even consider this a private matter when Cuomocoaty’l has so publicly boasted of his sin-see Cardinal Burke’s correct review of the matter below]. And I think proper people have. And I’d be uncomfortable going into that. Rather spiritual and pastoral. But, that is, that’s a good point. Not denying him. He may have already said ‘I cannot approach the holy sacrament.’

With all due respect this is simply a cop-out and a grave injustice to the right of Our Lord to not be publicly defamed and that His flock not suffer the same infamy as a result of the public actions of an obstinate heretic-sinner.

Its obvious what Cardinal Dolan and other luke-warm ninny Catholics are doing here: assuaging their multi-millionaire, pro-abort, pro-contraception, pro-sodomite sacristan, pro-“gay-marriage”, “faithful”, that their public, Pelosi-like sins are not going to be used to deny them anything including seats at swanky “catholic” soirée fundraisers and blasphemous, relic galas much less “the sacraments” if those things mean anything to these people any longer.

In the above cited text, Canon 915: The Discipline Regarding the Denial of Holy Communion to Those Obstinately Persevering in Manifest Grave SinMost Rev. Raymond L. Burke, Archbishop of St. Louis,  Burke wrote.

If the lack of right disposition is serious and public, and the person, nevertheless, approaches to receive the Sacrament, then he is to be admonished and denied Holy Communion. In other words, the Church cannot remain silent and indifferent to a public offense against the Body and Blood of Christ. [emphasis mine – MC]

Burke then goes on to quote St Paul from Corinthians I and then Saint John Crysostom.

I too raise my voice, I beseech, beg and implore that no one draw near to this sacred table with a sullied and corrupt conscience. Such an act, in fact, can never be called “communion,” not even were we to touch the Lord’s body a thousand times over, but “condemnation,” “torment” and “increase of punishment”.

The fact that Steve Doocy was publicly asking his superior, Cardinal Dolan, to act to quell this public outrage aimed at defaming Christ himself and that Dolan declined to counsel the same and in fact inveighed against this request, clearly taught, tells you everything you need to know: the Institutions we rely upon to act in these matters and those running them have failed and are failing-disastrously with “horrific…ghoulish” results. Nowhere is this more prevalent and quite frankly embarrassing than in the ‘Murican Catholic Church. If a wretched sinner like me is embarrassed for The Church imagine the pain and abandonment The Sacred Heart of Our Lord and his Blessed Mother must be enduring!

A RAY OF HOPE?

Earlier in the morning Bishop Sharffenberger came closest to threatening Cuomocoaty’l with some punishment, saying “he is in that position now [of being denied] communion at the altar rail”.  See for yourself.

What to make of all this?

Well the Church is always having war made against Her and that is what separates Her from the heretical pretenders, so rejoice that we Catholics, despite the shame and sadness we should feel for the infamy being cast upon the Divine example of The Holy Family and the practice of The Faith as taught us by the Apostles, Saints, Virgins and Martyrs, are in the correct, One True, Mystical body of Christ. They say that prayer and fasting are not enough these days and that mass public protests are needed and called for. I advise that you instead “set brushfires of The Faith” in your own community and do those things the Saints have taught us: prayer, devotions, mortifications, fasting and worthily receiving the Sacraments. Here’s some parting advice from cardinal Burke.

[T]he discipline is not penal but has to do with the safeguarding of the objective and supreme sanctity of the Holy Eucharist and with caring for the faithful who would sin gravely against the Body and Blood of Christ, and for the faithful who would be led into error by such sinful reception of Holy Communion.  Finally, the discipline must be applied in order to avoid serious scandal, for example, the erroneous acceptance of procured abortion against the constant teaching of the moral law. No matter how often a Bishop or priest repeats the teaching of the Church regarding procured abortion, if he stands by and does nothing to discipline a Catholic who publicly supports legislation permitting the gravest of injustices and, at the same time, presents himself to receive Holy Communion, then his teaching rings hollow. To remain silent is to permit serious confusion regarding a fundamental truth of the moral law. Confusion, of course, is one of the most insidious fruits of scandalous behavior.

O’ most Divine Holy Family, by your example we tarry on, oremus! In|JMJ|
