Planned_Parenthood_GOD_t_shirt_DETAILMandeville, LA –  Just One Example of “The Christian/Catholic Sky Is Falling” from WND columnist who confesses her Catholicism while bemoaning that Pope Francis has stolen it from her and may have stolen it for All for Good…

It appears the same priests who won’t touch the issues of abortion or gay marriage have no compunction about preaching reverence for the environment and how our “wasteful acquisitive” lifestyle is wrong. I’ve already heard it, and it continues and promises to get worse. Soon, no doubt, it will be a sin needing to be confessed. This whole thing makes me sad. I am a Roman Catholic, and I will not let political issues strip me of my faith. But I will not be silenced when I see the religion and the Church being used for political ends. Pope Francis seems a kindly man, but questions are raised. Is the pope socialist? A communist? I don’t know, but I hope we find out before the Church is destroyed from within. It’s already begun.

Ms. Simpson is not alone in her despair and I think her complaints are reasonable, however, foretelling the destruction of The Church is at worst apostasy/heresy and at best a mortal sin of Despair. Many readers will be surprised to learn that despair is mortally sinful as if that were so well understood its on the Wednesday happy hour menu at Sonic as a coupon code. St Thomas explains it best:

“…just as the movement of hope, which is in conformity with the true opinion, is praiseworthy and virtuous, so the contrary movement of despair, which is in conformity with the false opinion about God, is vicious and sinful.”

Note the universal language of “true” and “false” in St Thomas’ explanation. From these rock solid, timeless markers we can reason why despair is sinful and destructive: It attempts to make false the existence of our benevolent Creator and attempts to make true that life is but chance and “luck”.  I will simply offer two passages from Our Lord as countermeasures to those who may concur with Ms Simpson.

1. “And I say to thee: That thou art Peter; and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.  et portae inferi non praevalebunt adversus eam.

I added the bold for emphasis. Was Our Lord speaking finite or future infinitive? “shall not” implies an imperative statement, free from conjecture, until it is altered by the very force making the claim, ergo either we submit to Despair and its Sin or we march on, undaunted, as The Church Militant.

2. “But the Paraclete, the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things, and bring all things to your mind, whatsoever I shall have said to you.”

It doesn’t get any more clear than this. St John used the term “docebit omnia” where Omnia is ALL as in omnipotent and that ALL is composed of ALL Our Lord taught them. To unpack the preceding: EVEN IF Francis were to commit the Papal errors theorized above, they will not be permanently binding and will cannot stand, point 2 will enforce point 1 even though, ephemerally,  it may appear that all is lost. Those Catholics that have tried their hand at Protestantism and appointed themselves their own Pope, inspired by their own faux Paraclete cannot continue to carry Calvin’s rancid water. Either the Papacy itself is infallible, though it’s current titular head may not be or the Papacy is subject to Calvin’s heretical claims and is null and void, a priori, post Peter’s death.

Why is the “Catholic Church”; THE church referred to?

“And I say to thee: That thou art Peter; and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. et portae inferi non praevalebunt adversus eam.”
