Hurst on Green, Lancashire – Few man made structures are as iconic as the English castle with its archer covering turrets and massive stoneworks that modern construction cannot attempt to imitate. Of all the castles and castle like homes in England only 1 can boast a lineage of over 1,000 years: House de Houghton. Famous for the visit of King Charles I in 1617 and still occupied (lived in today), House de Houghton is a 1,000 year old living marvel of architecture and history. (see slide show below for interview pics and much more!)

I sat down to hear some of the House de Houghton’s history with a pair of tour guides, Mr. Richard Roberts and Ms. Debbie Pope; the results are informative, entertaining and delicious as we hear of where the term “sirloin” originates and much much more!
