Bannon’s City of Man: When Machiavelli Runs Out Of Ammo, You Get Trumpzilla’d

Mandeville, LA – I just read then re-read President Trump’s statement in response to claims made by Steve Bannon in Michael Wolff’s Fire and Fury book about the Trump White House’s early days.

The seeming success of Fox News and talk radio has made many conservatives think they now have a massive media empire. In truth, they have constructed an intellectual ghetto that no one else wants to visit.”

Whether Bannon told Wolff the truth or not we may never know but we do know this: Bannon will have no future influencing Trump’s presidential decisions save for which newspaper to kindle fires with. What’s truly remarkable about this saga is that Bannon has made a real-world, living example of what Matthew Sheffield accurately called The Conservative Echo Chamber. That the Chamber has nearly all members of the Talk-Radio-Mafia as its officer corps, highlights that the Chamber feeds a self-serving elite from the enormous spoils of its war on intelligence. The bread and circuses of never-ending quests for that magical quantity of political power that will “win back ‘Muricah” from the bad guys: those NOT in the TRM or friendly to its irrational “solutions” to very real problems, like the conservative dogma that government spending can be brought under control by cutting taxes. Sheffield:

“It is poetic justice that many of the same people who pushed these naive positions and strategies saw their own imbecilic noise machine turned against their preferred presidential candidate, Ted Cruz, in this [2016’s] Republican primaries. The seeming success of Fox News and talk radio has made many conservatives think they now have a massive media empire. In truth, they have constructed an intellectual ghetto that no one else wants to visit.” [emphasis mine – MC]

The TRM bromides of bumper sticker solutions animated by the theoretical magic that “liberty” supposedly guarantees are all the TRM have left because that’s all they ever had. Restoring the Order of Christian civilization has had no seat in the Echo Chamber despite the fact that what the Bannonites are looking to restore was not made “great” by Trump or men like Trump in the first place. It was made great, holy and worthy of defense (or restoration) by men like Francis, Thomas and Augustine. These men and hundreds of thousands of others were of course guided by the Grace of God and the wisdom of the Paraclete.

Gentlemen, grab a weapon, start the process of re-ordering your life and your family’s, and get in the game.
