Times_That_Try_Mens_Souls_3_quarter_viewMandeville LA – If Star Wars’ Obi Wan Kenobi were leading a young, virtuous hero across the Mississippi River

Bridge toward Baton Rouge, when the capitol came in view he might pause and say. “The Louisiana Capitol. You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy. We must be cautious.” Too bad the citizens of this state haven’t been more cautious in choosing the villains we call legislators. According to the U.S. Census bureau, the Who Dat Nation has seen its median income plummet nearly 20% since 2009.1 This ranks Louisiana in the bottom 8 states in the Union, a ranking I’m certain our Legislature can improve upon once their latest act of imbecility is implemented: JindalCare.

Yes, the same crew that has pushed this state’s debt past $18 BILLION in unfunded liabilities now wants to fund another one: healthcare. Senator Ben Nevers of Bogalusa (the plan’s sponsor) is a recent convert to Jindal’s “America Next” plan which promises a “conservative alternative to ObamaCare”. Here we find another perversion of the term “conservative” which can now be used to sell socialized medicine. “But Mike, Jindal is a Republican and his plan is market based!” Wrong. Socialism relies on the practice of central economic planning2 and Governor Jindal is a central planner, cloaked in a red, white and blue costume. Jindal compares buying a light bulb to a healthcare service and finds that the problem in healthcare is “everyone is insulated from costs”. This is true but the way to fix that is not to re-arrange the 8 million pages of tax code, it is to ELIMINATE healthcare premiums from the tax code completely so they’re treated the same as car insurance premiums.

Jindal made the right move to resist ObamCare & its “exchanges” now Louisiana citizens should make the right move and resist him, otherwise we’ll find ourselves in another Star Wars scene, watching healthcare “liberty die… to thunderous applause.”
