Mandeville, LA – Church Doctrine – “If you like your gumbo the way you make it, you can keep making it,” said health and cajun food President Crawback Andouilleama two years ago when the affordable Gumbo Act passed the House of Pancakes. If you wanted to start a revolution in Louisiana you might try something like the Affordable Gumbo Act or you might try something like the Affordable Care Act which will separate 80,000 Louisiana citizens from the health insurance plans they were happy with. This according to Insurance commissioner Jim Donelon. This will then, by definition, mean that those formerly responsible citizens will not be able to keep their plans as President Obama boasted.

Patrick_Henry_American_Statesman_paperback_cover_DETAILIf we look a little deeper into this debacle and pull the death shroud off the rotting corpse of a limited federal government we see that even the Constitution’s promised guarantee of “a [r]epublican form of government” has been compromised. Because republican government requires the consent of the governed and the separation of powers. You might recall that back in June of 2010 Louisiana passed the “Health Care Freedom Act” adding our name to 20 other state legislatures to pass similar measures. Our law in part says “no citizen… shall be required to obtain or maintain a policy of individual health insurance coverage.” meaning the ACA’s must have insurance rule should not be in effect.

But what about the rest of 2,600 headed Kracken known as ObamaCare? It’s the brainchild of Senator Mary Landrieu and company that every insurance policy must be comprised of at least 10 coverages, almost half of which single males and the elderly will never need such as “maternity and newborn care… and pediatric services.”  “No matter!” shriek the do-gooders who designed and now must defend this “repair” of our “broken system”. “If you like your gumbo you can keep it” may be true  but I wonder if Obama told Landrieu that if she liked her office in Washington, she could keep it?
