Mandeville, LA – Exclusive Transcript – This is going to get very nasty, very expensive, and very screwed up or convoluted very fast.  There’s also a story in the Washington Times today about how the Obamacare law has been amended or adjusted, before it even goes into full effect, 19 times.  It’s been amended or delayed 19 times.  Who has been running the House of Representin’ since the law was passed in 2009?  Check out today’s transcript for the rest…

Mike:  My buddy Mish Shedlock over at Mish’s Global Economic Trend Analysis has this, “Obamacare Fraud Free-for-all Now Underway; “ObamaMarket” Enrollment Starts October 1.”  Rick Newman, writing for Yahoo!Finance writes this:

america-secede-or-die-t-shirtHave any idea where to find a health insurance exchange? Up to speed on what a healthcare “navigator” is? Know whether you’ll need a new government-issued ID card to qualify for Obamacare when it goes live on October 1?

Scam artists hope you’re as clueless as possible, because they’re counting on widespread confusion about the Affordable Care Act to tap fresh opportunities for milking the unwary.

Scams are nothing new, but three factors make the Affordable Care Act a uniquely rich opportunity. First, the law affects nearly every American in some way, since it requires most people to have health care coverage. Second, it won’t be standardized nationwide, the way Medicare and Social Security are, since states have the freedom to administer the law in different ways. Third, the law is brutally complex, which has sown confusion even among health care experts. The result is a sweeping new law that’s shrouded in confusion and varies based on where you live, which is an invitation for abuse.

The proper response to fraudulent marketing, of course, is to hang up, delete or slam the door and then contact the FTC. But Obamacare comes with a few wrinkles that make it a bit harder to tell who’s legit and who’s bogus. The law, for instance, requires each health-insurance exchange to develop a network of “navigators” whose role is “to educate the public about qualified health plans, distribute information on enrollment and tax credits, facilitate enrollment, and provide referrals on grievances, complaints, or questions.” Among other things, navigators will make sure people know they need insurance, and help enroll them in Obamacare if necessary.

Network of “Navigators” = Network of Fraud

Newman cited several instances where “navigator” had an icon for “healthcare.gov” that instead landed on a page where people could get “navigator help” for $40.

One site was shut down, two others changed the logo following complaints. But $40 is small potatoes compared to those out to steal your personal information and credit cards. [Mike: This is going to get nasty really quick.]

For those interested, here’s the real link to HealthCare.Gov. Plan and cost information will be available October 1.

I went through a series of questions that I answered honestly. Here was the bottom-line result for me: Don’t expect to save any money.

Specifically …

road-to-independence-BH-RTIDE2-detail“You may be eligible to get quality health insurance through the Health Insurance Marketplace. But based on the information you provided, you probably won’t qualify to save money on your monthly premiums or out-of-pocket costs. You’ll find out for sure when you apply for coverage starting October 1, 2013.” [Mike: In other words, you’re too successful to take part in our program.  We don’t want your kind around here.]

Pre-Existing Conditions

I do not have pre-existing conditions. For the purpose of this article, however, I checked a box stating that I wanted information about them.

Here are some snips:

Being sick doesn’t keep you from getting coverage

Starting in 2014, being sick won’t keep you from getting health coverage. An insurance company can’t turn you down or charge you more because of your condition.

[end reading]

Mike:  Folks, when the preexisting condition clause gets kicked in there, and when an insurance provider that is actually providing — arm’s length, market-based transaction: You want me to cover you unless your leg gets cut off?  Okay.  I’ve run the actuarial tables.  One out of every 260,000 gets their leg cut off.  About a  third of those are going to buy insurance, so I’ve got a pool of 80,000 and change.  It’s going to cost me $150,000 to get your leg fixed.  What I’m going to have to do to cover the leg for you is to charge everyone $65 a month.  Whatever the math comes out to be, that’s how they figure these things out.  When you can’t run the numbers like that because you’re forbidden from excluding anyone, when you can’t go: Well, if that has already happened to you, there’s a good chance, our actuarial table here says, it’s going to happen to you again.  If you’ve already been treated for x-condition six times, there’s a very good chance, Mr. 38-year-old, you’re probably going to be treated for x-condition another six times in the next 20 years.  That means we’re going to have to pay for it.  We could sell you a policy.  You probably can’t afford it but we’ll sell you one.

Mike Church Show Transcript – A Rose Is A Rose . . . Nationalism Is Nationalism

Our advice to you, see that hospital down there with the crucifix on top of its roof?  That’s a charity hospital run by the catholic Church.  Go down there and they’ll fix you right up.  Wait a minute, we put those guys out of business.  We put that charitable organization out.  You could go there, but the rules they have to navigate have made it so they don’t want to keep their doors open.  You know what?  My Uncle Bobo, though, if you go past that hospital and take a right, there’s an alleyway.  Go down the alleyway.  There’s a door on the left painted green.  Knock three times, pause, knock twice, pause, and then give an “ee-ah, ee-ah” and they’ll open the door.  Inside, there’s Dr. Vinny Boom Bots.  Dr. Vinny Boom Bots will fix that leg right up for you, pal.  It’ll cost you a lot less than going to a hospital.  You might lose it from gangrene, but welcome to 2014 United States.

The ObamaMarket glossary defines “Qualifying Life Event” as follows:

A change in your life that can make you eligible for a Special Enrollment Period to enroll in health coverage. Examples of qualifying life events are moving to a new state, certain changes in your income, and changes in your family size (for example, if you marry, divorce, or have a baby).

Mike:  This is going to get very nasty, very expensive, and very screwed up or convoluted very fast.  There’s also a story in the Washington Times today about how the Obamacare law has been amended or adjusted, before it even goes into full effect, 19 times.  It’s been amended or delayed 19 times.  Who has been running the House of Representin’ since the law was passed in 2009?  This is a pretty easy question.  Who’s been in charge of the House?  Wait a minute, I can name that decepticon in three notes, Mr. Church.  That would be Speaker Boehner, right?  He’s the leader of, what’s that party now?  It’s the Republican Party, isn’t it?  Yeah, it is.

If they’ve amended it 19 times, my question would be: Have they amended it to make it better or have they amended it to put their stamp on it?  Remember, when this whole thing was going down in 2009, you might recall that now Senator Blunt was then Representative Blunt and there were Republican, publicly-financed and government-takeover versions of the Affordable Care Act.  It was thought by people like Newt Gingrich at the time: If you’re going to have this debate — we’re going to go ahead and do it anyway — then Republicans ought to jump in with both feet and have their own version of Mr. Smith Goes to Washington and does exactly the opposite of what Mr. Smith’s constituents told him to do when it comes to government-run healthcare.  It looks as though the Republicans in Congress, even though some of them have been sincere in their efforts to try to stop or derail this thing, that there has been an adjustment of it or a massaging of it.  The Republican footprint or handprint has been placed on the law now.

At the end of the day, here we are.  Remember, after the law was passed, it was vowed by many that it would never go into effect.  We’ve got almost five years to defeat this monstrosity.  There’s no way.  We’re not going to allow this to be implemented.  We’re going to defeat it.  We’re going to defund it.  We’re going to repeal it.  We’re going to do all these things.  Here we are at least two election cycles removed and standing now on the precipice of medical services industry Armageddon, disaster.  We seem powerless to do anything about it.  That’s a pretty good indication that you might live in Tyrannistan.  If Vladimir Putin can’t convince you that you live in Tyrannistan, the implementation of Obamacare might convince you that you live in Tyrannistan.  Here’s the study.

Mike Church Show Transcript – Bureaucracy Eats Everything In Its Path

[reading]

President Obama has already signed 14 laws that amend, rescind or otherwise change parts of his own health care law, and he’s taken five independent steps to delay the Affordable Care Act on his own, according to a new report from the Congressional Research Service.

CRS, in the report to Sen. Tom Coburn, said all sides have already agreed to 14 laws that changed parts of Obamacare, though they were usually minor changes or clarifications.

The ink from Mr. Obama’s signature on the original law was barely dry when, a month later, Congress made the first change, specifying eligibility for veterans who are part of TRICARE.

But CRS said Mr. Obama and Congress also made some bigger changes, including repealing what all sides agreed to be a burdensome income reporting tax on small businesses, repeatedly dipping into provisions of Obamacare to use money for other spending.

Mr. Obama has also acted on his own, declaring five separate delays this year. Most recently he announced one-year delays on checking the applicants for exchanges to see if they should have employer-based coverage.

Mike:  Not only that, he’s also acted on his own to grant these waivers and to single out individual businesses or large corporations that say: We don’t really want to operate under Obamacare, Mr. President.  We kind of contributed to your campaign in 2008 and 2012.  Perhaps you recall this.  We’ll remain loyal to whoever your successor is, but man, you gotta grant us a waiver.  Dude, we do not want to live under this law.  You have got to exempt us from this.  Of course, the Obama administration has been only too willing to comply.  What’s the fairness in all that?  How is that something that levels any playing field?  It seems to me that it elevates the players that are already on the playing field and further insulates them.  The oligarchical corporatism that has been force fed to the American public for the last 50 years, this is just the latest infraction.  Again, where is the plan to actually stop this?  The plan to repeal it, where did that go?  Well, it’s hard because it’s part of this law and that law.

You see, folks, it’s just like I always tell you here, not just in this instance but in almost everything we talk about.  There is almost zero point zero possibility that any of us in our lifetime are going to see a decapitation of any of the three trillion heads that sit atop the federal hydra.  It is almost if not impossible.  You can’t rule it out.  Miracles have happened.  I don’t see Paul of Tarsus running around here lately.  I don’t see St. John the Baptist here to help.  I don’t see any apparitions of the Blessed Mother making their way throughout the United States, but the day is young and October 1 isn’t here yet.  It is almost impossible to alter the federal ship of tyranny.  It is sailing on a course and is such a large, hulking behemoth that it cannot turn one-tenth of a degree.

The only thing that seems to get slightly in its way is when the hoi polloi, in such vast, undeniable numbers, refuse to give it their acquiescence, like in the Syrian struggle.  Note what’s happened here in Syria.  We can tie the Obamacare debacle with the debate over Syria.  What has actually happened in Syria or with the Syrian intervention nor the war in Syria or whatever you want to call it?  What has happened is Congress has been prevented from doing something.  That’s what Senator Paul said in response to President Obama on Tuesday night.  It is the people that have actually prevented the Congress from acting.  We haven’t repealed or gotten rid of the notion of the authorization to use military force.  We haven’t repealed or gotten rid of the idea or notion of the war powers resolution.  We haven’t kneecapped the executive and said from here on out Congress gets to declare all wars and is going to assert its authority in foreign policy.  We haven’t done any of those things.

Mike Church Show Transcript – How You Distance Yourself From Progressivism. What is Organize and Separate?

All that has happened — and this is good, so don’t misunderstand.  All that has happened is that Congress has been prevented from acting.  They have been prevented from screwing up or screwing us more than they already have.  That is all that has transpired.  Let us be thankful for that.  That’s no small thing.  When analyzed and properly contextualized, the event that occurred is we intervened.  The Affordable Care Act is already on the books.  You can’t intervene.  You can’t say: You can’t act . . . you already did.  We’re going to stop you . . . you guys already did that.  Well, I’m not gonna . . . yeah, that’s already been passed.  Well, you may think you got me on this one but I’ll never . . . that’s right, that’s already law, too.  You guys know any good travel agents to get me a good deal to move over to the Bahamas?  Unless you go entirely Galt and go off the grid, accept only cash, no bank accounts, barter for your food.  [mocking] “I’d really like some pork today.  I’ll trade you 15 chickens for that pig but you gotta slaughter it for me.”  In other words, it’s impossible to change these things.
