Mandeville, LA – Exclusive Transcript – “Dance style sparks controversy in East Lyme” I say why the bother, East Lyme?  Let them grind.  Kids are going to do it anyways.  Let them do it.  What’s the harm?  Come on, you old geezer.  You can tag the grinders as the future single parents.  You can tag the grinders as the future bringers in the world of the next generation of bastards that some taxpaying generation will have to pay for the rearing and bringing up.  How about that?  If you know what grinding is, just imagine your little darling, your little tot at a high school homecoming dance being ground by the quarterback of the football team, being ground by a 230-pound member of the wrestling team, being ground by the school grunger. Check out the rest in today’s transcript…

Mike:  “Dance style sparks controversy in East Lyme”:

[reading]

The high school’s plan to enforce a ban on “grinding” at a high school dance sparked a debate well beyond the dance floor. [Mike: Think about this. So now the inmates at schools are running the asylum. The inmates demand the right to be able to grind one another — I’m not going to get into describing what it is, you people know what it is – to be able to grind one another on the dance floor at a high school dance. When the principal says, “I don’t think you ought to be doing that,” the students are all, “You can’t tell us how to dance, bucko.”] According to the school, last October’s homecoming dance was sparsely attended, only 300 students shows up when usually 600 show up. The student newspaper, The Viking Saga, published an editorial earlier this month opposing the policy. The student writers said the school should allow the dance style but prohibit a more provocative version of the dance.

Mike:  I don’t know what to say about this.  A couple things: some of you may be old enough to remember that you used to go to college or university, as it’s properly called, to study what?  [mocking] “Mr. Church, Mr. Church, I know!  You get a bachelor degree in liberal arts.”  You might get a bachelor’s degree in liberal arts.  You used to go to college to study a discipline.  Don’t use that word in 2012 United States, no siree, Bob.  Discipline, no.  That conjures up images of old fogeys and squares telling all the cool kids with the pumped up kicks what to do.  Discipline, what’s that?  You went to school and studied a discipline.  The discipline may have been medicine, law, whatever your discipline was.  You used the word “discipline” because you were disciplined.  You were regimented, certain rules, orders, traditions you followed while there, but we can’t have any of that because school is not about study and discipline and the regimen of learning things, of course.  School is about feeling free and feeling good about yourself when your child leaves the school.  That’s all that really matters.  What is in their brain is immaterial and irrelevant.  What really matters is their self-esteem.

I say why the bother, East Lyme?  Let them grind.  Kids are going to do it anyways.  Let them do it.  What’s the harm?  Come on, you old geezer.  You can tag the grinders as the future single parents.  You can tag the grinders as the future bringers in the world of the next generation of bastards that some taxpaying generation will have to pay for the rearing and bringing up.  How about that?  If you know what grinding is, just imagine your little darling, your little tot at a high school homecoming dance being ground by the quarterback of the football team, being ground by a 230-pound member of the wrestling team, being ground by the school grunger.  As I’m reading this story, I’m just thinking, it is Christmas season after all, celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  That’s what we’re supposed to be doing.  We don’t have time for that either.  Give me some Santa, baby.  As I was reading the story last night, the first image that popped into my mind was Donna Reed and James Stewart dancing on the expanding dance floor in Frank Capra’s It’s a Wonderful Life, the floor opens up and there’s a pool underneath and they fall in.  I didn’t see any grinding.  Donna Reed and Jimmy Stewart weren’t grinding.  Somebody needs to remake that movie and tell those fuddy-duddies, tell those squares, those wallflowers to get with it.
