Mandeville, LA – Exclusive Video and Audio – Time Magazine has an article about how school has become too hostile for boys. A young boy was suspended for chewing the sides off of a Pop-Tart into the shape of a gun and “shooting” it at someone. Another boy was suspended for throwing an imaginery hand grenade to save the world. These draconian enforcements of the “zero tolerance” policy are keeping boys from being boys. When young boys can’t use their imagination other areas of their learning skills are inhibited, creative writing for one. In almost all of the instances where the boys were suspended when they were asked “why they did it” they responded with “Because it’s fun”.
